What if your boyfriend or girlfriend was an otaku/weeaboo/Japanophile?

I'm asking this as a guy who watches anime, Godzilla movies, and like Japanese culture. Then again, name one African-American who doesn't watch anime!

Anyways, one of the people I subscribed to on YouTube is AkiDearest, who has2.71 million subscribers! AkiDearest is an American-Japanese (NOT Japanese-American) content creator whose channel revolves around Japan, Japanese food, anime, and manga. One of her most famous video series is "WHY JAPAN?", in which she buys, uses, and reviews bizarre Japanese products.

She lives with her boyfriend The Anime Man (2.61 million subscribers), who obviously is an otaku/weeb/Japanophile like her. In their case, the relationship works because they have the same interests!

But what about you guys? What if your significant other loved Japan and Japanese culture with a burning passion? I don't mean to the point where it becomes an extreme, obviously.

What if your boyfriend/husband or girlfriend/wife was an otaku or weeb? How would you feel about it, and how would it affect your relationship?

He is not an otaku or a weeaboo. He loves anime. So do I. I don't call myself an otaku. And a weeaboo is a derogatory name to be shaming those who love it. Now if you have an obsession that can be unhealthy and you may need to evaluate why. It's okay to have an overall desire to understand a particular anime. For me, I like the psychological and spiritual aspects you can learn about it. However, if you're just using it as an escape from reality, say abuse, loneliness, depression, lack of sex or love, etc you need to seek to help. Before it takes over your life and gives you an unhealthy perception of life.

A Japanophile is VERY different than an otaku or weeaboo. It is a person who has a love for Japan and Japanese culture and its traditions, people, and way of life. The country itself. Being an otaku is the modern term of being in tune with modern Japanese culture which tends to be entertainment heavy with the anime, video games, J-pop (mostly), and manga. Weeaboo is the assumption the person is Japanese because the obsession of wanting to live that life without actually being part of Japanese culture (you actually lived and grew up in Japan unless you studied or lived abroad), but your nowhere anything that physically represents a Japanese person = Is East Asian, Have Japanese heritage, can speak Japanese as your native tongue, live by the culture because your roots are that) Traditional Japanese Names, Clothes, ability to speak the language, Eating the food, listening to music, acting or mimicking Japanese behavior, etc wouldn't count.

Either way, I don't see what is the point of Judging people like that unnecessarily with no basis.

I love anime and manga myself - and some parts of the Japanese culture.
It's a turn off if it's too much, though I would love if we can enjoy some of it together.

Depends if there just into anime or a full on otaku which is someone who doesn't leave there house, work or do anything other than game and watch anime.
