Is Prince Philip actually that much of a dickhead that he’s portrayed to be?

I don't think "The Crown" is a documentary. Its a docudrama at best. Real-life characters but a fictionalised element.
Consider Billy Gibbons's character in Bones - the fictionalised version of himself. Or Stephen Hawking's appearances in Star Trek and Big Bang Theory.
Some of what happens in the series is accurate, but I'd be very surprised if everything he says and does as a character actually happens. I think the portrayal of him in "The Queen" is probably more accurate.
I haven't seen the Crown but I like in the UZk and yeah it's well established that he's a racist asshole. It's comedic at this point.
Thank you! I didn’t realise this at all. Judging by how involved the media are with the modern royals, you would think it would be something that’s widely known 😂
Has me shook anyway, I always though he came across as just a nice old man. I was gravely mistaken 😂
Yeah you’re right, that’s kind of the impression I get. Too old to change his mind on any of it at this point 😂
Pretty much. Here in the UK they do report on his comments but the BBC have always brushed it off as joking remarks that he didn't mean and so on. That's why it's a public secret that he's racist, everyone knows it.
He's had some good ones though, playing to stereotypes. Like “How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to pass the test” (said to a Scottish driving instructor).
I'm Scottish so I enjoy that one lol. Then you've got this “Still throwing spears?” (question put to an Aboriginal Australian during a visit). or “It looks as if it was put in by an Indian” (referring to an old-fashioned fuse box in a factory near Edinburgh).
He had a reputation for hilarious gaffs such as asking scottish driving instructors hown they kept their students sober enough to pass the the driving test. It would be brilliant if he started tweeting now, I reckon he'd be funnier than Trump.
😂😂😂 most certainly back in the day anyway 😂
Worse. Old school racist jokes. That shit when on tour he disrespected an African ww2 vetrean war hero with a chest full of medals.
It was a funny joke

I’m watching this show too. I Dont know much on British politics but it wouldn’t surprise me. It’s pretty funny in the show though
Yes I have laughed at a few of his scenes 😂
He's brutally honest, and doesn't give a rat's rear end about the silliness that is "political correctness". It's how a person should be.
I laugh when people think it's racist he's total fashist lol
I don't know, I haven't had lunch with him in over a year now.
Prince Phillip is the first foreign poc to marry into the Royal family
No... he is always ridiculed
You have no idea.
(That would be a yes.)
Don't believe the US made up rubbish..
Yes.
"The crown" is obviously not true. Come on.
The truth can never be revealed.
