Lonesome Dove is both the greatest Western & best Western mini-series ever.

The Searchers is my favorite western because it's gorgeous - Monument Valley is breathtaking - & the plot (though far-fetched) is interesting.

The Westerns directed by John Ford, Howard Hawks, Clint Eastwood, & Sergio Leone are all classics.. Kevin Costner also made a memorable trilogy.

Other lesser-known but notable ones include Dead Man & The Ox-Bow Incident.

There are too many TV shows to name, but perhaps The Rifleman or Gunsmoke.
And, you have to ask, what qualifies as a Western?
Is Justified? Is The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams? Is Kung Fu?

I liked the Clint Eastwood westerns.
Also an old favorite of mine with Gregory Peck is Mackenna's Gold!

Favourite western tv show is Lonesome Dove the series. Was only around for 3-4 seasons. But movie is The Undefeated. With John Wayne. I've been a Duke fan since i was young

I generally don't care for Westerns. Usually %80 of the movie is pure exposition. That's fine, if that's what you like, but I find that gets boring quickly.

There was a film called 'They call me trinity' and a follow up I think was called they STILL call me Trinity.. I enjoyed those the most. Apart from the obvious Clint Eastwood ones. But everyone says those.
