Wow, what a great show, very smart! I'm legitimately sad that it's over and I'll miss those characters.

Great show tho they could have clipped one or two seasons. Later on it felt like, when things get boring they just threw something up referencing Red John to spike the excitement.
Some shows are the Freak of the Week type vibes like and other shows are more story based. Both have their unique qualities that are enjoyable. But if not done well one can get too boring and the other too serious.
The movie Jack Reacher is an example of a serious story driven movie vs say Star Trek that's more about the random adventures that are fun to watch. You need enough story to not get bored. But too serious and you need a break from it.
The Mentalist was designed to be a more serious story driven show but since it was a series they had to draw it out and you have to fill episodes with non Red John storyline because it can't be all about him.
Also who Red John was predictable (at least to me). So that took away from it a bit. Overall it was a great show. Good characters. Good story. I like where they took the story overall. They just could have done the reveal a little better and clipped a few episodes from the show. Outside that I'd still give it a solid 8/10 for people to go back and watch
Yes, they had quite an interesting formula. Lots of filler episodes to stretch out the series as you put it.
If you just picked out the Red John episodes and spliced them together it could have just been a movie. Still it was a good series right up until the end, but luckily I got to binge watch it at my leisure commercial free. That's really the way to watch it. If I had watched it on television when it was new I probably would've missed episodes and lost track over the years.
Watching a series all at once, that are already done is awesome! It's like one super long movie and the Mentalist must've took a genius to write. It never failed to be clever.
That's exactly but I ended up doing. There were still a few seasons left to go by the time I started watching I think they were on three. And I lost track Part Way Through The Following Season and came back to it later. I started watching again when the final season was coming out with episodes
That must've been confusing. lol.
Did you notice that the actress playing Grace Van Pelt looked pregnant for a season or two?😅
It wasn't in the storyline for her to be pregnant. She was gaining weight, she didn't leave her desk for a long time and anytime she was walking around she was pushing a cart full of files to cover her belly.
Finally they sent her away to some computer training course on the show, which was probably when she went to have her baby.
It was so obvious to me.
Thanks for MHO. by the way to this day I think about the cliffhanger of him shooting homeboy in the mall leading into the court case where he admitted to murder, why he killed him, and saying he believed he had the right to take his life. Then asked them what would you do in that situation?
Powerful scene
I'll try to talk about this without spoiling the show for anyone reading.
Yeah, that was always weird to me. I thought he would get in trouble once the FBI figured out it wasn't who they thought.
Maybe Double Jeopardy laws apply?
Oh well, it all worked out.
I know, it's just when I was watching the show I accidentally came across a picture of Patrick kissing somebody and I just about pulled my hair out. LoL!
It was such a suspenseful show for me and I didn't want anything to ruin the experience.
I love following the story and feeling the emotions without knowing the outcomes.
Game of Thrones was like that for me too.
I just watched the whole thing this year and throughout the series I was starting to remember things that people had said about the show online.
I was trying to fight off the memories. 😅
Thanks I'll have to check that out.
God yes. But I often disliked the way Patrick constantly belittled his profession at the same time as benefiting from his profession. You know. Taking the piss out of fortune tellers but the same time he goes around using his crafty skills if you will to get answers out of people.
I mean what a hypocrite of the highest order.
But god I still loved the fun parts of his character on screen
Yes, the episodes where there would be other psychics were always interesting.
He would tear them apart, trying to expose them as con artists.
I do like that show because even though it's based on horrible murders, it's still a light hearted, upbeat show. I would watch it to relax, yet there's some episodes that really pull you in to the Red John mystery. I have to find another series to watch now, but I don't want to.
I miss Patrick, Theresa and Cho. 😅
I wouldn't say they're con artists. They're usually as good as Patrick: not telling people what they want to hear, but being very good at psychology and revealing to people their true desires and what's wrong with that. Silly Patrick. His arrogance and ego went to his head 😱😱😱😱

I did like that show.
Me too. I can't believe I watched the last episode this morning.
I felt like I was part of their team and I feel lost now, lol.
It was pretty good
So many great episodes right?
I was watching it everyday for a long time, it was part of my routine. 🙂
Yeah, it was a pleasant surprise.
The last series I watched was Game of Thrones, which was good, but the Mentalist is kinda funny and quirky. I was more satisfied by the ending of the Mentalist as well
I don't want to go into too much detail or spoil it.
No I never watch that show
People should watch it, it was an incredible series.
Never heard of it
I didn't really know much about it either, but my sister actually left the first season on dvd at my house.
I read the back and it was about this guy who used to be a fake psychic, like a con man who can read people and trick them. His family was murdered by a serial killer so he ends up working with the police to try to catch the killer. In the process he helps them solve all kinds of other crimes by using his mentalist abilities.
I started watching it and I noticed how clever the stories were and how likeable the cast is.
I became addicted to that show and I watched all 7 seasons. I really liked it.
