Combining all your interests, I'd recommend the Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons. It's actually 4 books (Hyperion, The Fall of Hyperion, Endymion, The Rise of Endymion). Some people have reported the first book somewhat challenging to stay focused on, as it's like the Canterbury Tales, with each character sharing the story of their life. The information is very important, though, to give you a good foundation for understanding the rest of the books. As time goes on, you'll get more and more hooked.
Talking about time... this book does deal with time travel, but going both directions simultaneously. I've never encountered an author who could handle the complexities of time like Simmons. Things may happen that you don't understand, but he always takes you full circle, so everything is clear. Not till the end of the last book does everything come together in a nice neat package. It may not be the result you'd like to see, but it is definitely unexpected and pulls everything together. There are so many complexities to the series that I gain a deeper understanding each time I read it.
Simmons gets you thinking long and hard about politics, religion, technology, diversity and prejudice, and a variety of types of relationships. The true romance part develops near the end, but it's a romance that transcends all others. Simmons truly helps you to discover what is most important and valuable in life. The depth of this story will definitely impact you. Enjoy.

Hmm well, perhaps you're already read this one, but I've been reading "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen lately, so far, it's been really great

For Romance:
It depends what you're hoping for, I'd be happy to give suggestions, but it depends what you want out of a romance. Song of Achilles is amazing, if you're looking for queer, mythological romance. Anything by Jane Austen is witty and fun, if you want a period piece. So do you want a romance story where that is the central pivot point? Do you want something NSFW? Do you want straight or queer romance? What kind of setting do you want? Something slow burn, or immediate?
Try Nicola Yoon’s books. Everything, Everything and The Sun is also a Star. She also has a new one out called Instructions for dancing but I haven’t read that one yet, but want to.
