Is it limited to TV shows? I've been replaying through the Ultima series of video games, which was not only one of the foundational pillars of the RPG genre, but of gaming as a whole. While not without their flaws, the series was fantastic- until you get to Ultima VIII.
See, the first three games were standard fantasy RPG fare; they weren't derivative only because they were pretty much the first. IV was what really kicked things off: all the great evil ones were defeated, and the big bad guy was: ennui. The people were malaised and listless, and you won the game by proving yourself to be the Avatar- the embodiment of the eight virtues of honesty, compassion, valor, honor, justice, sacrifice, spirituality, and humility- and then completing the pilgrimage to recover the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom to prove it. It was unusual then, and continues to be today, but the games required you to play them like a decent human being- or better than decent- would live. V was about the virtues being corrupted, twisted into mockeries of themselves that fulfilled their letter while violating their spirit; VI was about the virtues being challenged, put to the ultimate test in the face of an opposing moral system that seems to be overwhelming them; VII was about the virtues being neglected, as standing leadership all over the game's world, even ones who had been solid examples of them before, fell away from their duties. VIII... VIII was about the virtues being ignored. Now, that SOUNDS like it might be interesting, but it wasn't explored; completing the game simply required you to act in ways that an Avatar would have found completely repellent. And pretty much without consequences, too, not least because the other party members- characters you've been encountering since the VERY FIRST Ultima game, are all missing; you're on your own.
It also marked a radical change in the gameplay; from a dungeon-crawling RPG to a straight-up action game, and one with terrible controls, at that: in normal games, you push the jump button, and you jump a set height and distance. Sometimes you can hold the button down to jump higher and further, and sometimes getting a walking or running start will do the same. Easily understandable. In Ultima VIII, pushing the jump button made you jump a distance based on how far away your mouse cursor was from your character. Need to jump to a far platform? Well, if you click on it, you'll overshoot it and fall to your death. If you click right in front you, you'll undershoot it, and fall to your death. That's a bad system in a game that's NOT full of jumping puzzles. In THIS game...
Ultimately, Ultima VIII was a bigger disappointment than the ending of Game of Thrones.

I guess I would say Dexter's original 2013 series finale, but the 2021 new "final" season, Dexter: New Blood gave the show a PROPER ending and definitely redeemed it, after eight years. So I don't know.
I never watched Game of Thrones, nor cared about it, but I remember EVERYONE being pissed off about that finale. Even the cast. Emilia Clarke even hated the final season, and she was the main star of it! Worst yet, outside of completely ignoring season 8 of that show and acting like "it was all a dream" or something, I don't think you can even re-do the final season of Game of Thrones. Especially since George R. R. Martin will probably die before he ever finishes his most recent book, which I think only matches up to season 4 or 5 of the show. Meaning they'll probably never be a proper ending to the game of Game of Thrones TV show. And again, I've never even watched or cared about that show before. But I remember 2019 like it was yesterday. I had professors and colleagues even complaining about it.
The liar. It had a great energy from the first episode. But it was the finale in the 10th episode. Now, is that why I waited for that series? 😒
Berserk... Cringed through all the rapeyness and for like no gratification at the end just a cliffhanger

Oh many times. Biggest one recently was the video game Cyberpunk 2077. It took forever for it to come out and when it finally did it was a huge buggy mess and a lot of things the developers promised in the game werenât therre. It was pretty bad. I was looking forward to it too
The new season of Dexter. Waited years for them to bring out a new series after the horrible ending of the last series, and once again it was fantastic right up until the ending. So disappointing.
I waited for the new Halloween to come out and so the Halloween Kills came out now people is saying that there are parts to it that you have to pay if you want to see wow
now this is a bummer for sure @Genie23 Glad to see you back miss youGame of thrones up till season 4. We all know how that ended. I enjoyed the hell out of breaking bad, but hated the hell out of Skylar and the romance drama parts. Thatâs honestly about it.

One that was really disappointing was waiting for a new Start Trek series. Then we got the STD (Star Trek Discovery). The Witcher even though all the actors are talented and I'm a huge fan of Henry Cavill. Maybe I just don't like that genre. I watched it only because of him lol.
Final season of How I met your Mother. The ending was trash. Period.

this actually happened to me recently... with the third season of Narcos: Mexico
it was just okay but I think they went over the surface of the many situations that they could have developed or gone more into detail, but they just did a fast-forward into things... and who knows if there will be more seasons or they're just going to leave it at that, maybe it's wise for them to just leave it at that... lol I feel like that every time Sasha Grey shows up on Twitch
"Yellowstone" I've always like Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser. But all of them together, and their chemistry is great. I get the drama is Over the top lol. But the Man vs. Nature, Man vs. Society theme I guess touches the primal masculine side of me. I can't wait for season 5.
Season 4 of Castlevania wasn't bad but it was a let-down. Season 3 left us withamazing cliffhangers and it all just sortof fizzles out
I waited 7 years to see the movie adaptations of the final arc of the Rurouni Kenshin series. They werenât terrible, just a little underwhelming in comparison to the trilogy that had been released prior.
