What's the point in a video game if it's not challenging?
What has happened to video gaming in the past 20 years or so is sad. Dont' you agree?

What's the point in a video game if it's not challenging?
You ever watched Southpark's episodes about "freemium gaming". It's just where we evolved to as society.
Video games were created and quickly became a time drain (kind of like G@G. some people became hard-core gamers. Then as computer technology advanced a few companies learned that people would pay a subscription fee for games that could expanded (World of Warcraft wasn't the first but it it's a good example). Then as online presence increased and "social media was born companies learned of the term "viral". Why try to convince people to plunk their hard earned cash down for a game when you can give it to the masses for free, and then collect that money on the back end AFTER they've become ADDICTED to it. Charging less than a dollar (at least in the beginning) for tokens that give them a leg up on the other gamers. Even if you're someone who doesn't pay they still make money collecting ad revenue shown.
This is just where we're at as a society.
🤣🤣🤣
Yargh - there are very few games around that catch my attention. I'm kind of 1st-generation ''gamer''.
I think that the problem once again are the money-bags: games are not longer made to excite, but to just get in cash and ''net-value'' (whatever that is :) )
The shallowness that we see in present games is a mirror of the shallow society that produces them.
Away from ''mainstream'' though: every now and then there's a quite 'smart' INDIE game. Trouble is: to find them among all the rubbish that is scattered around them.

I’ve played some F2P games with some challenge. They’re not the most complicated, but they can be just challenging enough to be a fun way to pass the time.
I’m currently playing Genshin Impact. The combat is fun, the graphics are nice, many characters are interesting and fun, and it has an interesting story unfolding over time.
You just have to be more selective.
Any company that uses the term gaming as a service can lick my button lol
Corporations make them more corporaty
Wizards of the Coast is even noobifying AD&D even more. They are trying to make the fighter even more powerful in version six than in previous versions? Why? Fighters are already too good as it is.
Expert players don't need the fighter to give you a free win. They just need the fighter to soak damage for the other characters while dealing a bit of damage of his own.
I'm not a gamer.
