Netflix is more interested in "diversity and inclusion" than staying faithful to source material. In many cases a decent writer could get away with this simply by creating an original story, but it seems they're too creatively bankrupt to do that.
In "The Witcher," Netflix really screwed the pooch. The actress for Fringilla Vigo does a good job playing the part, but there's a major story plot point coming up later which won't make much sense, because she and Yennefer are supposed to look similar enough to be confused for one another... That's going to be really hard to do when one of them is black and the other is a pale Indian. It has multiple other problems beyond just casting too.
What they should've done, especially since they had the full cooperation of the original author, is made a new story set in Ofieri or Zerrikania where they could check all the boxes they want with an all new story, something new for fans and attracting new fans rather than just inevitably dividing the audience.
Get woke go broke.
This is what happens when you base your casting decisions on tokenism.

hmmm cool
Not true beauty is scientific our brains see symmetry as pretty.
I know right so many ugly actors cast these days like beauty is a science everyone is not pretty and even worse theyre shot in 4k like if one the actors is too ugly I just stop watching the TV show. So Annoying.
i dont know about ugly
but they do often cast the wrong people
They are probably cheaper and hey thank diversity quotas
Because Netflix didn't met you yet.
Well why do you keep auditioning for netflix?
