It highly depends on what you're trying to get out of your music, what headsets you're using and what environment you're in when you listen to music. As well as age. If you're young and you're mostly in doors your ears are good enough for high rez music and you can use something like Tidal as long as you have a wired headset. But only in doors. If you're traveling outside when you listen to your headsets you're better off listening to something like Spotify without the high rez. Most older people have hard time hearing high rez music, so for most older people they should stick to regular quality because they'll be wasting money when they can't even hear the difference. You need good ears for high rez. Outside there is tire slaming trains cars and too much noise so it's better to stick regular quality music when you're outdoors. As for head gear if you like the Conveniences of using a Bluetooth headset than regular quality music is good and you won't be able to get the same quality from wired headsets. Your head gear, your age, it's a lot that goes into it, but for the most part people really only need something like youtubemusic and spoifity is good enough. No need to spend unnecessary money on high rez if you dont have the right head gear for it or if you're in a loud environment where you don't get anything out of it. And I like CD quality better than high tbh. And I love using blue tooth ear buds.
My own CDs, Library CDs, YouTube, Internet Radio (browser add-on).
I tired Pandora when they first came out, but didn't stick with it. I didn't dislike it, I just never got around to subscribing.
Before the current big names existed, there were a number of smaller sites hosting limited music.
ATM I have Internet radio playing. It's a blues station from France.
I've been on Spotify for awhile but thinking of trying YouTube music soon.
Spotify doesn't have nearly as much music, and what it does have is original stuff, none of the remixed versions of the same song. Sometimes the remixed is better than the original.
I want both options.
I also won't give Apple a penny of my money... they suck.
I say Spotify because I listen to Spotify all the time
