Okay, so I got a stack of 25 CDs that I can print to, and for awhile now I've been trying to sell some shirts and mugs with my own designs on them. So, to help boost sales, I was thinking of putting a selection of my favorite songs onto the CDs as a giveaway, where for each order people would recieve one CD of maybe 10 or so of my favorite songs.
However, I fully understand copyright law exists, and I don't want to get in any legal trouble because of this. Naturally, each CD would list the songs and give credit to the actual creators of said songs. I figured it would be something kinda fun, since the shirts have my art on them, to see/hear the music that inspires me as a free giveaway for the amount of CDs I have.
So, essentially, is it illegal to give away a mixtape with every T-shirt/mug order?

I applaud 👏 your efforts to increase your Revenue. Consult and attorney since it is directly tied to your Business. There are strict procedural copyright practices involved.

As long as you're not making money off the music/artists you're ok. Just make sure it's known as a free gift with purchase.
