What is the difference between color by Technicolor and prints by Technicolor?

In late films, say from 80s, it says prints by Technicolor when older films, say from 60s, it says color by Technicolor.

What is the difference?

I would guess one would be shot and then "colorized" or some process and then some film prints actually printed by Technicolor.

No there are (were) tons of printing companies. And film manfacturers. Of course they were hollywoods go to. But its an interesting read about photography as an invention and then evoltuion to moving picture.

Those color by Technicolor Films comes from Technicolor Laboratory.

In Later movies (80s), it only says prints by technicolor instead.

Between mid 30s and early 50s, Technicolor Films were shot by 3 strip Technicolor camera.

In 50s, Eastmancolor came and Technicolor Films became Eastmancolor based, 3 strip Technicolor cameras were no longer used.
