Is Dye Transfer by Technicolor different than Dye Transfer by Deluxe Color?

As far as I know, Technicolor had the most complex color process with three strip separation. And they had color consultants to further color correct anything that might be off.

I am unfamiliar with other color processes. But if you look at old movies on TCM or elsewhere, both Deluxe and Technicolor prints seem to have held up better than other color processes if the prints are more than 60 years old. But after that period of time, it appears ALL processes need digital correction due to fading.

Since both processes are copyrighted, there might be trade secrets that can't be accessed by ordinary people. But you might ask at the UCLA film archives about these processes and what can be found out about them. or the film archives at the Library of Congress. I'm sure they've got pros who can tell you the most.

Google search didn't tell me any of that. It's something I learned because I'm a film buff. I'd say, ask the pros. Library of Congress and UCLA restore films. Also, if you watch any restored old films, such as Afredhitchcock's "Vertigo".. there 's a list of people who did the restoration. Though they used digital processes, I'm sure they know about the original color processes so they would restore the film properly. That's just common sense. I'd contact them. Those folks probably never have people ask them anything.
