What’s with PP’s T-rexes sort of roaring?

I’m pretty sure I heard some lion (like Rexy from JP) in the female rex’s roar when she saw the male. To my knowledge that form of verbal communication was unnecessary to them and sort of impossible, unless the idea of them making low pitched sounds that travelled through the ground which is basically nature’s version of texting and both don’t require you to open your mouth at all is already outdated…

Film / tv is not about accuracy it is about storytelling.

Sometimes these mistakes or 'artistic' choices cause problems, sometimes not.

There are many common things you see in film which are not realistic such as; fuel tanks exploding when shot, tyres squeeling when not under signifcant load, ammo clips lasting forever, I can't think of any more right now but there are countless examples.

The idea is that if you don't know any better then the lie can aid the storytelling by making it more exciting or whatever.

Oh, the obvious and most appropriate; pew pew pew noises in space battles.

Well, I didn't see it and I am a long way from being an expert.

From the poking around I have done it seems this is a pretty open topic, no one knows, these are just guesstimates.

Ok, sure, Trex isn't going to roar at its food before biting it, that would be stupid but it doesn't seem unreasonable to me that it would make some sort of noise during territory disputes or mating and such like.

If you can intimidate your opponent and avoid a direct physical contest then you solve your problem without damaging yourself, this is clearly a massive evolutionary advantage and one which is extremely common.

Similarly if you can use sound to aid in the attraction of a mate then why wouldn't you do that? It seems to me to be more likely that a creature would have a preference for certain vocalisations than it having a preference for silence, unless being silent at all times was critical for survival.

I don't remember any dinosaurs with ears. So I feel that they weren't too ''vocal'' I think.

They perhaps grunted similar to pigs?

Or croaked like ravens?

What we get to hear in movies certainly is for increasing revenues, but nothing real.

They didn’t have ears like us, just little holes. Unless….. I’m gonna draw an Oviraptor with mammal like ears and see how it looks at some point
