The bones in the human face change with age. The jaw doesn’t settle until about 35, if I remember correctly what the dentist told me when getting my wisdom teeth out. Watching actors such as this age makes this especially obvious.

It's probably plastic surgery. I reckon he wanted to look older and more "masculine" looking, and so he requested to get a manlier jawline. This was to land more mature Hollywood roles and get out of being typecast as a pretty-boy or an f-boy. I think he got the plastic surgery to further his career, but it turned out not as well as he thought it would. I feel bad for him, but as long as he is healthy and happy that's all that matters.
