How come some movies barely mention the characters’ names?

Sometimes, when I watched a movie. They barely mention the characters’ names. At the movie ending credits, they’ll show the characters’ names.

Some stories don’t mention them at all, like The Professor and the Housekeeper, or the original Little Mermaid. The names of the characters ain’t that important.
