Why don't superheroes have ethnic sounding names? ?

We have Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker, Clark Kent and Janet VanDyne. We have no Josh Goldstein or Gino Spatachini.

Seeing as both Stan Lee and Jack Kirby are (were ) Jewish, they would have been the ones to do it. My guess is, Jewish People are already treated badly for everything that goes wrong in this world, making a Jewish Superhero would probably create even more of a rift!

Yes, the 40s were a different Era. Stan and Jack along with Joe Simon Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster were only trying to make a living and not start a revolution.

The people you named are white and their names sound about white 🤣👀 But yes there are ethnic names depending on the character/ethnicity. Like Black Panther is T’Challa. Black Lightning is Jefferson Pierce. Blue Beatle is Jaime Reyes. Katana is Tatsu Yamashiro. The latest animated spiderman is Miles Morales (half hispanic/black). Vibe is Cisco Ramon. And so on. I think there are some pretty ethnic names

A lot of these showed up after I stopped reading comic books I guess but I forgot T'Challa. I actually had the issue of the Fantastic Four where the Black Panther made his first appearance

Haha, that’s true. I think most of that stuff was created in the 30s and 40s, back when white meant “WHITE-white.”😝 So it was mostly “WHITE-white” names and characters being imagined.

Why would a super hero who is trying to disguise themselves during the day have an obvious name? They need to seem as basic as possible not names that draw attention

I never noticed, but an Italian American superhero would be cool and a good idea for spiderman. I guess one of the few who has an ethnic name is Miles Morales

Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker, Clark Kent and Janet VanDyne are all very ethnic sounding names, you could accurately guess their ethnicities based on their name.
