Am I the only one to think that house of the dragon is Worse?

I'm a very big fan of GOT and so I started watching HOTD hoping it would be similar to GOT but the boring writing and worst script had made me hate the series. Am I alone? Do you feel the same too? What are your views on HOTD?

It is different but I like it, I was getting a little bored of the princess bemoaning her fate in the early episodes but I am current on it and I think it does a really good job of showing how families can work and how people can end up on different sides without intending to, the time jumps are a little weird but it allows them to focus on this group of people over a long enough period of time for things to develop vs GOT divided attention among a lot of different plots.

It is kind of funny that the dragons themselves are an afterthought!! vs in GOT they were such a big deal b/c only one person had them.

I watched the first episode only and it seemed to be good or promising... definitely not like GOT but still nice, I tried to not compare it to much but well I really only know the first episode

I don't hate it, maybe a bit underwhelmed up to this point. But I think maybe that's just due to unrealistic expectations. I think that Game of Thrones is the greatest series ever, so that's a pretty high expectation to live up to. I'm hoping that in the next season we will be drawn into the characters and the stories even more.

I couldn’t get into it… but to be fair, I also lost interest in GoT around season 6 I think.

I've found it enjoyable actually. Much more Witt than GOT. Not enjoying the massive time skips but I understand why they are happening. Do wish they kept the original cast and made them look older. Milly was great as Princess Rhaenyra.

Sounds about the same as the new lord of the rings series. I paused it about thirty times over several days (my mind wondering) before I gave up.

Never really was into this GoT series though.

I think that the same thing is happening with the Rings of Power as with House of the Dragon, expectations set too high. Both of the series are great and greatly beloved. I don't think that it's possible to follow up without losing something. I would say this is especially true for me when it comes to the Rings of Power. I was hoping that it was going to be a bit more gritty or GOT-ish, but I guess that wasn't realistic.

@AndrésC64 They cut corners on quality. Bad directors and poor casting kills them. They expect the fame to make them extra cash. - That was harsh I’ll stop there. lol

I agree. I think it was to a large degree just a money grab. HotD on the other hand, I still have hopes for as it's written on source material by Martin himself.

Not necessarily..
This is a prequel and has no direct connections to game of thrones... So you can watch this without watching got. But it has some Easter eggs hidden here and there... But that's not given much attention. So no.. You don't have to watch got to watch this.

It's just as good as the first show. The vast majority of fans love it and season 2 starts filming in March next year.
