Are there any singers here that have advice on how to get started?

I just want to be able to sing as a hobby. Maybe be confident enough to do karaoke 🎤

If your are not too bad there are quite a few choirs out there who always want new members. I don't mean the "church choir" but rather groups that get together to sing a range of music, pop, rock, folk etc.
You don't have to be a good singer either, most of them aren't.

Tape record yourself. Hold your finger on your adam's apple to make sure it doesn't move. That will make you sound a lot better than before

Perhaps sing at church will help you find your spot and then voice lessons.
