Pokemon. The anime. I watched up until to the gen 3 Battle Frontier in 2006 when the Pokemon Company axed the 4Kids writers for the current (ex) porn star they have voicing Ash right now; Natochenny-whats-her-name, and the other inferior voice actors they replace Veronica Taylor and the 4Kids crew for.
I also liked The Simpsons too before it starting sucking in the mid 2000s.

  Yu-Gi-Oh was popular because it was melodrama based on a children's card game that's barely even real in-universe. While Pokemon the anime, was never that good beyond the first few seasons, at least things were real in it.

  Your question reminded me of having chicken pox. How awful that downtime was being stuck in front of a tv. My sister had it worse though. My case delayed a family trip. Her case hit on the road poor thing.
