Well, it's not grunge, but some variant of metal. There are so many variants of metal now that you can't keep them straight.
The problem with most metal over the last 30 years is that it is far too overproduced being obnoxious in-your-face loud so you can't even appreciate the lyrics or anything else.
This is mildly interesting stuff though.

  To illustrate what I was talking about, I want to introduce you to Queensrÿche, a metal band that became popular in the mid-80s to early 1990s. In this song, a live version of "Take Hold of the Flame" made in August 1984 just before the release of their first album, you can hear how the music is loud but warm and not oppressive over the lyrics. In fairness, singer Geoff Tate is an amazing talent. But, compare the song you posted with this song and you might be able to sense that there's a balance between lyrics and music illustrated in this song in this song that has been lost in the 21st Century metal.

  In both cases, we have loud but textured metal music but that also has a strong lyrical component that balances that music.
  
  Modern metal suffocates the listener's ears.
  
  Imagine eating a nice Thanksgiving dinner with all the complexities and tastes and aromas.
  Then imagine being force-fed that meal so that you can't even appreciate all the nuances, flavors, and aromas.
  That's the difference between 20th Century metal and 21st Century metal. And this is why it is difficult to enjoy modern metal now.

  No I really don't care for these bands.
  While the music doesn't bother me much, these bands/songs were what gave rise to modern metal...

  Here's a classic metal song from 1986: "Peace Sells" from Megadeth's "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?"
  The music is loud, but ornate (this was thrash metal), but the lyrics have meaning and can be understood.

  In honor of Kirk Hammet turning 60 this past Friday (18 NOV 2022), here is an 2018 performance of "Creeping Death", a song written in 1984 from Metallica's 2nd album "Ride The Lightning".
  
  Very loud and fast metal song - no one can deny this is metal - yes the lyrics balance out the music (and the crowd can sing along), and nothing is in your face obnoxious.
  
  Metallica can sell out 100k seat stadiums because they were good songwriters.
  Modern metal bands can hardly sell out a 20k stadium because people don't like to be growled at; that what spouses and bosses do.
