I am a simple gal, mine is Mario <3
I'm tempted to say Civilization; it's probably the one I've put the most hours into over the years. Alpha Centauri was the high-water mark for writing in a strategy game of any sub-genre, and it was in-depth enough to be engaging without being complex to drive everyone but the die-hards away. Gameplay-wise, it got even better, peaking with 4, and then... then 5 happened. I'm not averse to experimentation in video games, and I understand that sometimes experiments fail, but when something doesn't work, you need to admit that and move on.
To give you an idea: in every CIV game, the difficulty levels are dynamically named, starting out with "settler" (the city-building unit with no fighting ability) and ranging up to "deity" (the level that doesn't even PRETEND to be fair). 5 completely revamped the unit movement system, so each tile (changed from squares to hexes, but that doesn't actually make much difference) can only hold one unit. Okay, trying to make things more tactical; that's not a bad idea. But they ALSO changed the road system, so now roads cost money to upkeep- which meant that (since units move faster along roads), you not only had to manage a vast sea of units, carefully maintaining position and movement order, but you couldn't move it anywhere quickly, since you couldn't afford to maintain the road network you'd need to do so. This meant multiplayer matches took FOREVER, since each player had to micromanage their forces individually. But single player works okay, right? No. The game was clearly built around multiplayer, because the AI had no idea how to manage the new combat system. I breezed through the first few games I played, and decided, for the first time ever in the series, to play a game on the highest difficulty level- deity. A few hours in, I got bored, and gave it up- there was just no challenge. Wondering if I'd been needlessly intimidated by the difficulty level all these years, I fired up 4 again, started a deity game, and got massacred; it actually WAS different now.
Then the studio tried to recapture the Alpha Centauri magic with Beyond Earth, which was the first time I ever pointed my finger at a video game and screamed "Blasphemy!". Civ 6 was just more of Civ 5.

Metal Gear (the franchise is dead for good now)
Elder scrolls (YEARS since Skyrim)
Fallout (Last game sucked shit)
Resident Evil (Resident Evil 4 remake coming out 2 days before my birthday, first game I’m hyped for in YEARS)I got to choose one only 😱 Impossible.
You are twisting my arm real hard...
The first three Assassin's Creed, aka the OG's. AC 1 and 2 and brotherhood.
Am gonna add DOOM and Wolfenstein series too. Mario is a legend and no other games can reach Mario
I am going very old school! Back in the very early 1990s, “wing commander“ was the absolute best game out there. I think there were about a half dozen games in the series. This was before computers were able to simulate voices and you had to read the subtitles while playing.
I want to say Halo, but I’m not very happy with that series these days… 😆
Mario is definitely a good one, always changing in interesting ways, yet at the same time, it stays the same in all the right ways. It’s like it just takes on interesting new themes, if anything.
Honestly though, I’m kind of “gamed out” anymore… really starting to feel like I’ve had my fun with them, and that the days of having fun with them are behind me. 🤷♂️
That's a difficult choice, especially since I have been playing video games for 38 years and have had many that I enjoyed quite a bit.
I'd need to pick a few and those would be Shining Force, Mario, Mass Effect, Command & Conquer, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Lunar (Silver Star Story and Eternal blue), Metal Gear, Madden, Brothers in Arms (Road to Hill 30 and Earned in Blood), and Goldeneye/Perfect Dark.
I feel like a lot of franchises have fucked up lately, so I'm not sticking to one. I used to love zelda, then blizzard (Well that ended badly), my favourite game is chrono trigger, but that's not really a franchise. The latest two god of war games (2018/2022) were great, but that's all I've played of the franchise.. So maybe I'll have to go with the soulsborne franchise in the end.
That Mario in the photo is really cute.
As for me, Battlefield and NFS are the two series that are my favourite. They are simply amazing. Battlefield is for sure, but very few games are there from NFS series that I really like.
Blizzard: Warcraft 3 The frozen throne, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, Diablo 2 Lord of destruction
Activision: Quake 3
Valve: Halflife, Team fortress classic, Team fortress 2Mario is awesome. My wife has a small Mario collection. :P Mine though would be Soulcalibur, I have the soul edge tattooed on my calf, and plan to cosplay as Sigfried next con.
I actually don’t play games enough to have a favorite. But Zelda, Mario and Minecraft are some of the go-tos in my family.
That’s a hard one cuz there are so many classic games , I like Mario as well but Zelda is awesome as well but to pick favorites I would have to say Grand Theft Auto’s and God of Wars
I like on line global war type games. Modern warfare, black ops... Kinda games. But at the same time I like the mind games in the play store for your phone
Lode Runner, and Prince of Persia. Long as you had an Apple 2cPlus. California games on Commodore 64 is a close second. Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter II. FUck the rest of it.
I loved jazz jackrabbit and captain comic as a kid. I had Mario too but the first two were more interesting to me.
Leisure Suit Larry! 😀🤫
Pokemon, followed by Saints Row, then Mario, classic Sonic, and Resident Evil.
The Last of Us. I just think it is the total package
A lot have gone downhill in recent years, so I’ll say a toss up between the Fallout series, Elder Scrolls and Knights of the Old Republic.
