Trending & News I am a simple gal, mine is Mario <3

I'm tempted to say Civilization; it's probably the one I've put the most hours into over the years. Alpha Centauri was the high-water mark for writing in a strategy game of any sub-genre, and it was in-depth enough to be engaging without being complex to drive everyone but the die-hards away. Gameplay-wise, it got even better, peaking with 4, and then... then 5 happened. I'm not averse to experimentation in video games, and I understand that sometimes experiments fail, but when something doesn't work, you need to admit that and move on.
To give you an idea: in every CIV game, the difficulty levels are dynamically named, starting out with "settler" (the city-building unit with no fighting ability) and ranging up to "deity" (the level that doesn't even PRETEND to be fair). 5 completely revamped the unit movement system, so each tile (changed from squares to hexes, but that doesn't actually make much difference) can only hold one unit. Okay, trying to make things more tactical; that's not a bad idea. But they ALSO changed the road system, so now roads cost money to upkeep- which meant that (since units move faster along roads), you not only had to manage a vast sea of units, carefully maintaining position and movement order, but you couldn't move it anywhere quickly, since you couldn't afford to maintain the road network you'd need to do so. This meant multiplayer matches took FOREVER, since each player had to micromanage their forces individually. But single player works okay, right? No. The game was clearly built around multiplayer, because the AI had no idea how to manage the new combat system. I breezed through the first few games I played, and decided, for the first time ever in the series, to play a game on the highest difficulty level- deity. A few hours in, I got bored, and gave it up- there was just no challenge. Wondering if I'd been needlessly intimidated by the difficulty level all these years, I fired up 4 again, started a deity game, and got massacred; it actually WAS different now.
Then the studio tried to recapture the Alpha Centauri magic with Beyond Earth, which was the first time I ever pointed my finger at a video game and screamed "Blasphemy!". Civ 6 was just more of Civ 5.
I played CIV a lot. The later versions got too sophisticated and complicated. I preferred the earlier versions and eventually stopped playing.
It was assassins creed but after the pirate one I was kinda over it

ninja gaiden is awesomeness but there haven’t been any new ones made since like 2004

I like god of war more for the storyline not the actual gameplay not that it wasn’t a sick game it’s incredible

jak and daxter ICONIC💯 The final frontier was kind of disappointing tho

Devil May Cry amazing sound track great storyline challenging boss battles hilarious protagonist definitely my favorite series
Pokémon since I’ve played that the longest. But I also very much love rockstars Red dead redemption specifically the second installment.
I don't know about the franchise part, but VR is hard to beat. I love playing Beat Sabre.

I also love the Mario franchise
Super Mario 64 and the Zelda game are my joint favourites played on the snes, Nintendo 64 and the Nintendo GameCube.

Assassins Creed (although lately the games have sucked ass)
Splinter Cell (no new game in YEARS)
Battlefield (last game was a bag of dog shit)
COD (MW series being my favorite)
Metal Gear (the franchise is dead for good now)
Elder scrolls (YEARS since Skyrim)
Fallout (Last game sucked shit)
Resident Evil (Resident Evil 4 remake coming out 2 days before my birthday, first game I’m hyped for in YEARS)
I got to choose one only 😱 Impossible.
You are twisting my arm real hard...
The first three Assassin's Creed, aka the OG's. AC 1 and 2 and brotherhood.
Am gonna add DOOM and Wolfenstein series too. Mario is a legend and no other games can reach Mario
I am going very old school! Back in the very early 1990s, “wing commander“ was the absolute best game out there. I think there were about a half dozen games in the series. This was before computers were able to simulate voices and you had to read the subtitles while playing.
I want to say Halo, but I’m not very happy with that series these days… 😆
Mario is definitely a good one, always changing in interesting ways, yet at the same time, it stays the same in all the right ways. It’s like it just takes on interesting new themes, if anything.
Honestly though, I’m kind of “gamed out” anymore… really starting to feel like I’ve had my fun with them, and that the days of having fun with them are behind me. 🤷♂️
Before you walk away- have you played the Marathon series? They're the base that Halo was built on, and an important part of video game history. There's an open source port of them called Aleph One; you might find it worthwhile.
@NamerOfStars I think I played an old Xbox Arcade version of one of them… it was ok… I preferred DOOM for those old-school style FPS’s.
That's a difficult choice, especially since I have been playing video games for 38 years and have had many that I enjoyed quite a bit.
I'd need to pick a few and those would be Shining Force, Mario, Mass Effect, Command & Conquer, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Lunar (Silver Star Story and Eternal blue), Metal Gear, Madden, Brothers in Arms (Road to Hill 30 and Earned in Blood), and Goldeneye/Perfect Dark.
I feel like a lot of franchises have fucked up lately, so I'm not sticking to one. I used to love zelda, then blizzard (Well that ended badly), my favourite game is chrono trigger, but that's not really a franchise. The latest two god of war games (2018/2022) were great, but that's all I've played of the franchise.. So maybe I'll have to go with the soulsborne franchise in the end.
Yeah man, just about all these games anymore are a shell of what they could/should be… it’s just sad.
Yeah, I'm a game developer myself and it's crazy how many people are just there without any passion, doing their 9-5. And management really only wants to do things that are guaranteed to give money. "We keep doing this for as long as it is profitable".. That's something I was literally told.
That Mario in the photo is really cute.
As for me, Battlefield and NFS are the two series that are my favourite. They are simply amazing. Battlefield is for sure, but very few games are there from NFS series that I really like.
Blizzard: Warcraft 3 The frozen throne, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, Diablo 2 Lord of destruction
Activision: Quake 3
Valve: Halflife, Team fortress classic, Team fortress 2
Legends of Zelda* forgot
Mario is awesome. My wife has a small Mario collection. :P Mine though would be Soulcalibur, I have the soul edge tattooed on my calf, and plan to cosplay as Sigfried next con.
That’s a hard one cuz there are so many classic games , I like Mario as well but Zelda is awesome as well but to pick favorites I would have to say Grand Theft Auto’s and God of Wars
I actually don’t play games enough to have a favorite. But Zelda, Mario and Minecraft are some of the go-tos in my family.
Sorry I don’t really know a ton about this subject! You look like you would be fun to play a game with! You would probubly kill me… 😂😂😊
I like on line global war type games. Modern warfare, black ops... Kinda games. But at the same time I like the mind games in the play store for your phone
Lode Runner, and Prince of Persia. Long as you had an Apple 2cPlus. California games on Commodore 64 is a close second. Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter II. FUck the rest of it.
John Elway's football. Joe Montana's football. Super Mario Number 2. Basewars! RBI baseball. Sonic The Hedgehog, along with Tales, all the sequels. I can't win those games, I cannot beat them. I am not meant to be a Drone Military fighter based in Area 51 or Nevada air space to truly fuck up our adversaries!!!
There was a text based Spider-Man that was equal to Oregon Trail. I could only get to some octopus man. At least I could get all sorts of disease, and ford rivers, and die. Spider Man was straight up confusion and pure bs. That 2cPlus would be worth mega dollars now, yet it got done thrown away!!!
Yet, If I died tomorrow. And had cart blanche of my new endeavors via reincarnation I would be an Army General, rock star, or professional baseball player. I love the fact that I got surgeries with anesthesia, I want the best of both worlds. I love floss, I love electronic tooth brushes. Give me all of that, plant me in any time frame. I'd just have too much life to live.
@KaiidiraX What made Lode Runner and Prince of Persia so great, was the CONTROLLER for the Apple 2c Plus. The monitor that came with the 2C Plus? Green and black. You could easily hook it up to a color tv. The controller I would imagine, along with a working 2 C Plus? Would equal the worth of the cost of buying it in the '80s. Something tells me if you had said Controller and a working 2 C Plus you would more than make that up with inflation. '80's money I'm pretty sure it was 2 thousand US. It would at least get you 2k today's money, if not far more. And for what? '80's technology.
I loved jazz jackrabbit and captain comic as a kid. I had Mario too but the first two were more interesting to me.
Leisure Suit Larry! 😀🤫
Pokemon, followed by Saints Row, then Mario, classic Sonic, and Resident Evil.
The Last of Us. I just think it is the total package
A lot have gone downhill in recent years, so I’ll say a toss up between the Fallout series, Elder Scrolls and Knights of the Old Republic.
Tough choice between “Dying Light”, “InFamous” and “BioShock”.
I'm with you... Mario. So many fun games involving that little guy.
It was battlefield but not anymore, and I have a love hate friendship with bohemia interactive
The Shantae game series
It's hard for me to pick one because I have a lot of favorite franchises and genres, and almost all of them have games in the series that were amazing, and games in the series that sucked.
Fallout.
All of them, but my favorite is the first one.
And maybe Pokemon as well, but mostly for nostalgia reasons.
Mortal Kombat, followed my Art of Fighting, World Heroes, and Street Fighter
Chessmaster. Also nice pic of Don McLean's girlfriend.
Legend of Zelda. I grew up with the Nintendo systems and as much as I enjoyed Mario games, Zelda games always were more fun for me.
I would have to say, mario and or zelda are my favs
Id say titanfall but i only play the 2nd game so i guess its gothic
The from Software games. Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro and Else Ring.
M Network Baseball , I bet you never have seen that? Raiders of the lost Ark. Space Invaders
Final Fantasy is my go to franchise. I've played #6-10, 13 and 15 (word of advice, 8 and 13 are horrible. Don't play them. TRUST THE GEEK!)
I do have a lot but let me settle with SONIC.
"masturbate to my selfie" here I fixed the title for you
Why are you stealing people's pictures? I follow her on tiktok and Instagram. This is not you.
Legend of Zelda
Legend of Zelda series.
Pokémon no doubt
I started getting back into Pokémon a little bit actually, feels a little crazy going into stores and buying Pokémon trading cards as a 30 year old 🤣😅
@drummerdude25 I've never really been using the trading cards or anything, I just loved the games and such :P
But luckily it's pretty socially acceptable for grownups to enjoy as it's over 20 years old - and if you're still worried you can pretend it's for your possible kid, or nephew/niece
Oh I’m not worried… I’ve been to enough hobby shops now that you see all kinds of people in and out of them. The west coast is crazy for that stuff too. Was just out there visiting and man it’s like everyone is into it. All kinds of people.
The west coast is like so “ahead” culturally I feel, it’s crazy. It’s nice. Nobody gives af! 😂
That's awesome honestly!
Luigi's haunted mansion
Mario and then probably Minecraft
Legend of Zelda
That is such a good one!!!
Call of Duty and Fifa
Fallout is my favorite
Final Fantasy.
Mine too! I have played and beat every Final Fantasy.. (Except the online ones that never end, of course)
Dragon Age.
What is your favorite band?
Zelda or Super Mario!
I seriously love the deus ex games...
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 👍🙂
Warhammer: Age of Reckoning
this really was the most fun game i've ever played.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9fJzfRSVxA
