Am I the only woman unimpressed with Taylor Swift’s music?

She had a couple of good songs on her 1989 album but otherwise most of her stuff is just cringy and sounds like a lovesick teenager. Plus all her songs sound the same anymore, like some generic low budget basic girl crap you’d hear playing at ULTA Beauty. Just me?

I find most pop music like that. Arianna Grande is a great singer and hot as he'll and her music is trash but she knows her market.

Its all coming off a pop factory conveyor belt. Taylor has largely had her day I think, she made it big in 2006 so that was 16 years ago so most of her fans are turning 30 and she herself at 32 will find it hard selling songs about a 30 year old woman's problems and selling it in the pop industry. She will be able to rest on her laurels but new artists are always coming like Billie Elish that will take the teen pop market. Taylor is a pretty good song writer and was writing songs for other artists at age 15, I can see her returning to her country roots. She has a good discography and will earn more than she ever did touring, from royalties and from covers. She will likely take time out and have a few babies probably with her girlfriend. She may even go into acting.

I think there is a vast and clear difference between certain music being overrated or, unimpressed in this case... and music that we just do not like because it is not even aimed at us as a demographic...

as far as I know Swift is barely 30? and writes music for younger people, perhaps juvenile and teens to... I don't think she's actually trying to impress people over 40 years old, lol

also kind of pointless to look for virtuosity... out of a pop artist, that's like going to a fast/junk food restaurant and say "well this is not exactly gourmet, I was not impressed" lol, right?

Maybe if she was a thing when I was a teenager, I’d probably would appreciate her more.. and love her until this day, not that I’m 40.. but at my age and my experience with guys, her music annoys me.

I just see it pointless, that if something is not aimed at me, and I am constantly in the presence of that thing, then it might just be that I am the one who is always out of place... and in this case people that are closer to 40 and 50, but still surrounded by juvenile and thing girls, well... maybe you should hang out more with your "own demographic" where the old people hang out to all the old music lmfao

She is made out to be better than she really is. Her most annoying song when it came out and played every 10 minutes on the radio was "Last Christmas".

You must've been confused when you listened to her 1989 album because them songs are exactly what you described.
They are lovesick teenager songs that are cringy especially shake it off. So either you've grown out of her songs anyway or there is some hypocritical nature here.

But anyway I like some of her songs. Not shake it off that's for sure. But blank space hell yes. Her new song Anti-hero is cool.

As far as pop singers go, it’s Charli XCX that does that for me… she’s got the energy, the attitude, and the production in her tunes pops off… incredible... there’s always something interesting going on.

She’s like a bubblegum M. I. A. for the current day… both were ahead of their time in their respective ways, in my opinion.

Swift has never had good music if we want to be real. They needed another pop star to add competition. Her songs have always revolved around getting heartbroken or dumping dudes. It was joke enough to the point that whenever she got a new boyfriend, people would take bets on how long she would be with him then roasting him on her next hit.

I agree with you. There is no upper range to her voice like Adele for instance. It is straight monotone and the studio pumps up her voice on her music trying to make it sound better than it is. I will give her credit for writing some interesting songs but they all tend to have the same theme and I think everyone is tired of her writing about ex boyfriends as though they were mean and evil people and she was the sweet innocent victim.

I'll chime in from the male side and say, "I'm with you". 12 CD's, 54 singles but only a few truly decent songs in my opinion, maybe enough to fill one CD. As you said, the rest is generic teen angst for the most part. I remember when she first appeared and couldn't sing on key for an entire song. Now she's worth millions. Go figure.
