I've used this before on GAG, but my space fact is how far away the moon actually is from Earth, It looks like it's close enough to where you could Superman Jump up to it, like it's right above Earth, but the moon is actually far enough away from Earth to be another planet. I always wondered when I was younger, why it took THREE DAYS for Voyager 1 to get to the moon, even though "it's right there in the sky."

It's because of this!

Another fun fact is how slow light speed is. It takes EIGHT MINUTES, traveling at light speed, for the sun's rays to reach us on Earth. If the sun had a hiccup and its lights when out for a few seconds, then we wouldn't know about it until eight minutes later. Light speed is 670.6 million miles per hour and the fastest thing in the known universe, to the point no solid mass could ever reach its speed. But in space, that's still EXTREMELY slow. It'd take days, or even weeks, just to get out of our solar system traveling at light speed. That's why we'd need to invent wormhole travel if we ever were to do any deep space exploration. Light speed is trash.
