Do you know this author (Charles Perrault) from the 17th century, who inspired some of the tales and cartoons of your youth?

I may have heard the name, but without cheating and looking him up on the internet I don't know own much about his life. How was he involved in fairy tales or adventures?

He wrote Cinderella, little Thumb, Sleeping Beauty, Puss in Boots, and I don't know if you know this one donkey skin.

There are other versions that were written in the 19th century by the Grimm brothers.

But Disney has taken the "original" version of Perrault.

I never heard of him honestly.
I did know that the Disney company took older stories so I’m not surprised his stories were some of them.

Yes, in fact Charles Perrault took the old stories that were told orally and rewrote them, creating quite different stories. Later in the 19th century the Brothers Grimm wrote their own version.

Disney will choose the original writings of Perrault.

We are lucky that people at the time saw the value of preserving oral stories and traditions in writing.

Yes it is true, I wonder how there could have been so much genius during the reign of Louis XIV, that it is in literature, architecture, science, military etc

True, the era seemed well documented but I’m sure some things were lost.

That is the tragedy of art and knowledge from the past.

I was just learning about the history of art and sculpture; the amount that has been lost from Greece and Rome for example is staggering.

Yes I remember, it was really the two superpowers that confront each other, Rome the emerging power, and Carthage the established power

To be honest I was not a big fan of donkey skin.
