To be honest, as a musician, I feel like it’s everything wrong with popular music and radio. Lots of great, new and fresh, deserving talent kept below the public radar and the industry upholds another generic, recycled remake.

And you can say “well, it’s fun and I like it” and that’s valid this one time, or on a case by case basis, sure… perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with it… but the reality is, bigger picture, this is the status quo now. A low percentage of actually decent tunes make it to mainstream audiences and when you see it for what it is, with the history of industry practices, being considered as well, it should start to concern you at some point.

Mainstream culture has been stagnant, and in my opinion, that leads to a stagnant populous. I can’t even turn on the radio anymore without it feeling like it’s actively TRYING to reduce my brain to goop.
