Heroine isn’t a thing in my country yet.
I've had demerol a few times. They gave it to me when I got my wisdom teeth out, along with a bottle of 30 pills with a refill. I saved those for a long time and took two every once in a while for fun. Two was a pleasant buzz. LOL That was when I was in my 20s and playing in garage bands, surfing, backpacking, going on adventures, and partying.
I had a demerol injection at a hospital when I had a kidney stone. After my X-ray, a nurse came in and gave me a shot. I felt better immediately. A short while later, another nurse came in and said she had some demerol. I told her that another nurse already gave me some. She looked at the syringe in her hand, thought about it, and said, "Do you want some more?" ROFL I said "Sure!"
I had gone there in fairly severe pain and I could have tap danced out. No pain whatsoever. Happy as a lark.
Demerol is an opioid, so heroin must be similar. When it kicked in, which was immediate with the injections, a comforting warm feeling washed over me. Not temperature warm. Maybe a light feeling. I was buzzed, but not numb, wobbly or stupid like alcohol. I could walk fine. No slurred speech. It was quite pleasant.

"Chasing the dragon" as it's known, is supposed to be the most sublime of highs. You can also snort it for a less intense high. My only experiences was back when I was about 19. I thought my friend was giving me a line of cocaine. We went out to shoot pool and I asked him "how come my buzz is soooo mellow? Coke usually ramps you up?" That's when he told me it wasn't coke! I was a bit pissed off, but I had some booze and enjoyed the high. I never felt like doing it again though, so I didn't worry about addiction. It was just another experience.

I mean I never tried it but when I e heard addicts describe they always say it’s the best they have ever felt. I remember one show where they said it felt like a comforting hug.
It typically begins with prescription opiates. When those run out and the doctor won't give them anymore, and they can't find another source they switch to heroine. Sometimes before that just because it's generally cheaper.
This is how the opioid epidemic got started. It starts out as something you need. And then some become dependent on it. And when they try to quit thier body has become dependent on it. They don't want to take it anymore but the become ill without it (withdrawal).
I thank God I've never developed any kind of debilitating pain.
You mean "heroin" deary. Heroine is what you want to be, by saving these addicts from hard drugs.
Anyway, the whole idea of TV is to NOT glamourize hard drug use. But opium was legal for a long while before it got banned.
Tastes and heredity are difficult to discuss. Personally I don't see the point in taking such bad shit, and never did, nor ever will. I hate the mere feeling and thought of becoming dependant on any particular or similar product, let alone drugs.
People starting with heroine do it at first probably out of curiosity, in particular circumstances, or suggested by a group of friends during some fiesta. No need to rub it in about the consequences.
Many addicts were prescribed pain killers for something and eventually turned to a more powerful opiate.
People who do drugs lack self-confidence and are looking for a crutch... sad.

this is typically... a step up from previous usage of other drugs
Because people are fucked up in the head and do stupid shit , And then they get addicted and it takes over their life and they either end up dead or a pile of trash
