When talking about music tastes how many times have you said I don't really know xyz and it turns out you actually do know them?

For me this has happened so many times in my life, first off it was Michael Jackson when he died and I was 13 I think and I said to dad I don't know why everyone is making a big deal, I only know like 2 songs and we sat down and listened to some of his songs and turns out I knew many word for word and a dozen more which I knew the beat and the chorus for.

This has happened many times including brian Addams, Europe, Def Leppard and most recently is rock'n'roll. Sat down listened to the greatest rock'n'roll music and knew the first five word for word and the rest by beat/chorus.

That's true for me. I may not know all the lyrics, but I at least know the choruses and some of the hooks, as well as the musical arrangements. I'm better with the music than with all the lyrics.
