You have to eat anyway, so this doesn't really have to cost anything more than you were already spending once you get a basic spice cabinet built, and you can do that one or two spices per trip to the grocery store. Plus it's a great life skill, because coming from someone who made a lot of money before in a kitchen, you'll have a much better appreciation for food (and want to go out less to eat since you can do it better at home for a tenth the price), so that'll actually save you money in the long run.

Gardening if you pick the right plants, moreso if they're edible. Arugula is a good hearty starter, or herbs...

Volunteering at the local animal shelter.

As for myself, I love fishing.

I started out fishing inexpensively and stayed cheap until my interest and income grew. Now I have so much fishing equipment and so many fishing boats that I could open a fishing store.

Think about whether you want indoor or outdoor hobbies. Sit-in-a-chair hobbies or more active hobbies. They'll come to you.

Fishing hit me like a brick the first time a friend took me fishing and I caught a big fish.
