What's with Netflix?

Was watching Blacklist and am liking it. But then I noticed it was made in 2013, 10 years ago. Doesn't Netflix have any recent movies?

The vast majority of "recent" movies and shows are garbage and not well received. Netflix's model demands that they acquire stuff people want to watch, or at least are curious enough to give a chance.

Isn't The Blacklist still going? I know it definitely has more recent shows than 2013.

It does, but not many of the newer ones interest me. I guess the old saying goes - they don't make them like they used to.

Since I work in the industry, I can tell you that Netflix doesn't put much effort into quality in most cases, if they make it themselves. They're avoiding risk by mass-producing as many things as they can to get new subscribers and that's also why they drop so many series after just one season. If you want better series or movies, I'd rather recommend Apple TV. I'm by no means a fan of them, but they put much more effort into offering their audience good quality.

On the other hand, you have to keep in mind that Netflix doesn't own series like Blacklist. The big production companies are currently pulling series and movies from streaming platforms bc they have to pay fees in order for them to be available for the viewers. That's why you can hardly find any old cartoons or Disney stuff anywhere, not even on Disney+.

If the owners don't want to pay a fee, Netflix won't offer a broader range.

The Blacklist is a great show & it’s one of those shows where you watch one episode you end up binge watching more episodes. Blacklist had a great run & like all good things they eventually have to come to an end & it saddens me to hear that the show ended in July of this year. Netflix is starting to get boring & it’s like it’s the same old thing. Enjoy Blacklist.

I haven't touched Netflix in years and ever since Cuties and the SAG-AFTRA writers strikes, they all just further cemented my decisions to never go back to Netflix and just stick to piracy and free online streams.

Netflix has a lot of stuff from the old days. I have never seen Blacklist but I heard it was good.

I literally cancelled my Netflix and with the writer and actors strike ongoing for 6+ months it will mostly be foreign movies and TV series

I see new movies added all the time on Netflix, but overall, the quality isn't very good.
