José Carreras, one of the finest tenors in the world long before he was in the Three Tenors, and Kiri Te Kanawa, one of the finest sopranos, from New Zealand

my grandfather was in this orchestra, and often got last minute calls from Bernstein and other conductors to play sessions like this

Kiri Te Kanawa is an icon in New Zealand, her home country (mine too) and seeing her in live concert has been a musical highlight in my life

Incidentally, the Bradley Cooper movie "Maestro" is due to be released in December -- he directs and plays Leonard Bernstein !
