I've come to the realization that Hollywood or Hollyweird as I now call it isn't what it's cracked up to be. It's filled with insecure, mentally unstable, backstabbing, fake individuals who would do anyone and anything for attention. Yeah I'll pass lol

Sort of related, I really love acting. I was really into it in high school and college even. I would have loved to be a Hollywood big-time actor, but when I thought about the reality of it, I realized I would have to move to LA and start schmoozing ("networking") a bunch. The stuff you said, backstabbing, being fake, or at the very least, having to deal with a lot of fake, backstabbing, shallow people. And in very real danger of becoming one myself.

So I gave up on the idea of being a Hollywood star, and did some other stuff. I still think it would be fun, but not really worth doing all that schmoozing and hard work for what would amount to a less than 0.01% chance of actually making it big if everything went right and I got lucky on top of it.

I would still do it, or put in hard work if it was more likely (even a 25% chance would be decent). I'm not too upset by the politics and weirdos, I think there could be ways to maintain integrity and have fun.

This whole star/celebrity nonsense, Hollywood or not, is absolutely beyond me. Especially with the lack of privacy in the United States. Red carpet scenes look and sound like some alternative madhouse to me. Nooo thanks, I want my freedom, my quiet, my privacy, my anonymity.

Just because I'm a star doesn't mean I have to hang out with the weirdos. I was in a band for 25 years and they were always getting high and drunk and I never did either but, outside of shows and recording sessions, I rarely ever hung out with any of them.

I think it's somewhat half and half. Because like you said if someone speaks up they're shunned so they have to pretend to be liberal. I remember the singer prince got backlash because despite his music he was very religious and conservative. He spoke out against gay marriage, promiscuity and a lot of other things.
