Time's Person of the year is Taylor Swift. Do you agree with this choice?

To be honest, I like some of her songs, and she's got nice cats. But, sometimes I wish they would stop talking about her like she's God and the whole Travis Kelce relationship.

Time also infamously picked FDR three times, Hitler, Joseph Stalin twice, Mohammad Mossadegh, Nikita Krushchev, LBJ twice, Richard Nixon twice, Henry Kissinger, Jimmy Carter (for no particular reason other than winning an easy election), a literal 1982 computer, the Saudi King, Bill & Melinda Gates, Vladimir Putin, Ben Bernanke, Mark Zuckerberg, Obama twice, Pope Francis, Angela Merkel, the MeToo movement, Greta Thunberg, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Zelenskyy, and "The Spirit of Ukraine."

To be fair, some of these were picked before the realities of these people and their movements really set in, but if I were Taylor Swift, I'd be suing for defamation over being roped in with these people. Sure Time has a some less absurd picks and even a few good ones, but it's largely not good...

Also to be fair, the "Man Of The Year" was the most newsworthy person of that year who arguably was changing the course of history, even if that person was a nogoodnik or a villain or what have you. But from the 1982 onward, we began to see some really stupid choices, like "Machine of the Year" (the computer). A once serious weekly news magazine, I think it degenerated from that point forward.

She's so much more than just a performer and celebrity, etc to me, because the sheer energy and erotic appeal she brings is just indescribable. It feels as though she can see right through me when I'm watching her. The realization that I have no real purpose for living is so obvious when I'm listening to her. I dream of being her personal slave and eagerly obeying her at the snap of her fingers.

I think she deserves it. She's done a lot this past year career wise, politically and charitably. I would like to say a lot of the people complaining about seeing so much about her... There isn't any more than is usually posted you're just interacting with the posts therefore more are showing up.

But has she ever made any public declarations to help the homeless? Fight the meth and fentanyl war ravaging our streets? Has she stood up for teachers who are quitting like crazy because of the school system? Has she made any kind of protest that we need to do more to stop waves of retail theft?

It isn't about every single issue, rather it's about the KINDS of issues. Celebrities pick all the safe stuff, not the matters that directly affect the average person, because they think they're too good to tackle that stuff. Or worry that it'll be too controversial for their careers.

i like taylor's old songs the most but honestly i haven't heard any of her latest songs since Wildest Dreams came out on the radio. I don't listen to radio anymore.

Pop and hip hop stars are supposed to be worshipped like gods. That is Hollywood's whole point. Not saying it's right or should be the case, but that is what it's about. Idolatry of celebrities is what our media aims for, so I'm not surprised that she got person of the year. Do I agree with it? Not by a long shot. There is nothing courageous, outstanding, humble, or unusual about Taylor's job, life, and personality to warrant me to want to make her person of the year.
