How hard is it to sing, really?

Has anybody here ever took singing lessons

Ask a group of five-year-olds which of them can sing; they'll ALL raise their hands.

Singing is easy; singing well... Look, the grade school I went to had a simple policy: ALL students were forced to join the choir. Then I came along. I was the first in the school's history to not only NOT be forced to, but to be specifically asked not to.

So I don't know how hard it is to sing well, but I can still sing.

I've never been very good but I enjoy it a lot. I took some singing lessons though as a boy and they did help me quite a bit (even though I'm still not very good).

One of the most helpful things starting out that my teacher taught me was to sing more from the gut/lungs than throat/nose. Also being corrected when I'm even slightly off key helped a lot since I didn't even notice it until it was pointed out to me.

i know that tip but wtf does it mean? how can i possibly sing from the gut?

That's a tricky one to explain! Also it's not literally singing from the gut, but maybe just a mental image to help us avoid constraining our diaphragm as we speak or sing. My teacher just sort of corrected my posture and showed me repeatedly how to relax my diaphragm as I copied her. This might help a bit though:

Very easy. You just have to have an ear for staying in the right pitch and a voice that CAN actually sing with.
I never took a lesson and I've always been able to sing. Same goes for drumming.

I can sing in the shower.(badly). A lot depends on genetics. I dated a girl who could sing beautifully. She used ro win all the open mics around here. She really had talent but never had any formal training.

never. but never had any problem with singing either i am not the judge of that but appearantly my voice is good enough to sing.

When I was much younger (8-13yo) I was a member of my church/school choir, which was a form of singing lessons.

I have. It's harder for some, easier for others. Voice lessons can definitely help.
