I never understood the appeal. Those early days of low-poly 3D graphics were always so ugly to me. It had too much form and perspective to spark my imagination of what's really there like pixel art. So I just looked at it for what it is: a bunch of flat planes and razor sharp angles: not exactly the type of thing I think about when it comes to a beautiful woman.

With low-res pixel art in a side-scroller like that, my brain didn't interpret it as a literal representation of how she looks but an abstract symbol. So that sparked my imagination and I imagined a very hot girl in my mind. But real-time 3D graphics never did that for me. It might be a defect; I figure the people who saw Lara Croft as so hot in Tomb Raider could still spark their imagination with the low-poly 3D model.
