This one was released in 1967, the "Summer of Love", when I was a kid, still in Catholic school. I must have been in 8th grade. I wasn't all that aware of the song at that time. But I was fascinated by hippie culture and the things that were happening with brand new forms of music, musical innovation, and meaningful lyrics during that important period of history.
I was a guitarist and was immediately befriended by people who fell into what was considered the hippie clique when I started public high school in 10th grade. They were really good people, had cool fashion sense, and introduced me to lots of new music. That was the year of Woodstock.
There were lots of large weekend gatherings at parks where kids would sit around in groups, smoking weed, talking about stuff, and often playing music. Sometimes there would be live bands.
Anyway, it was a carefree time. And liberalism was about things like peace, love, tolerance, open mindedness, fairness and justice, civil rights, equal rights, liberty and freedom, distrust of authority, and anti-war. None of the "woke" insanity that arose decades later.
There are a couple songs that remind me of the feelings I had back then and make me nostalgic.
This is one:

Another along those lines is:
He Ain't Heavy is one of my favorite songs. I also really like the Neil Diamond version. I just looked it up and was very surprised that Neil didn't write that song. For a very long time I thought he wrote it. He certainly wrote a lot of other songs that were hits for other people, but not that one.
I just rediscovered this one from the 80s while trying to look it up based on a vague memory. I was so excited since I only remembered small parts of the lyrics and the tune.

@AngryCarl I only remember that one song of hers I listed above, although I might need to check out her other songs as well!
one of the best songs!
@Nikki1989 They do sound very alike! I remembered, "God sometimes you just don't come through." 🎶🎵🎶

Alright trannies and fags... here is my theme music.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/30jrmzzgHLcI usually listen to metal or punk... but this song describes me on a deeper level. Like really deep... like me in your vagina. Balls deep. Don't have a vagina and you're confused?
If you don't have one, it's your girl's vagina. ... But only if she's not fat.
Most 90's songs. This reminds me of the 90's I was younger and life was one big party/adventure. Life is still an adventure. But with more responsibility.😂
Man, these two songs here I will not listen to unless I am okay with experiencing a coma from nostalgia 😂
TONS of song are attached to memories for me! It's partly how I remember when certain things happened in my life.
When this happened, I was listening to that record and I bought it in this year on that month so, it HAD to have happened at this point in time.
No matter the decade this song always remains relevant
Yes... It's not my theme song, but this is factual music.
