JFK shook my hand briefly in 1963 when his convertible limo drove by during his campaign. I was 9 years old.

When I was a kid, my dad was a member of the Cross and Cockade WWI aero historian club. He took me to the monthly meeting that met at the Hollywood Palladium in the 1960s. Some famous people sometimes attended those meetings. I met Cliff Robertson, Mel Torme, Buddy Rogers and William Wellman.

I met famous motion picture pilot, Frank Tallman several times. And I met famous pilot Bob Hoover.

When I was around 18, I met Seymour (Larry Vincent), host of the TV shows Fright Night and Seymour's Monster Rally when he was hosting some films at a local theater. He had been called the Groucho Marx of the Graveyard. He shook my hand, autographed a photo, and said something like "Here you go, now you can sell it for a bottle of wine." I was thrilled. My friends and I loved watching Seymour.

When I was around 20, I went to Dan Haggerty's (Grizzly Adams) house with a friend who was installing a car stereo system for him. Dan was a really nice guy.

I saw Milton Berle one time at a quiet restaurant, dining with people who looked like his adult grand children. He was old. When they left, I followed them out and respectfully introduced myself. He graciously shook my hand.

I ran into Richard Thomas one time at a Renaissance fair. He was just walking around shopping. We chatted for a few.

I went to the No Nukes concert at the Rose Bowl in 1982 and had tickets for the celebrity brunch. I met David Carradine, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Linda Ronstadt and got their autographs.

I had some drinks with Jimmy Witherspoon at a bar in Huntington Beach where he was performing.

I shook Rory Gallagher's had at a concert he was playing at the Whiskey A GoGo.

I met Robin Trower when he was playing at a bar in Long Beach.

I met Roger Glover, bassist for Deep Purple, back stage at a Deep Purple concert.

I met Martin Barre, guitarist for Jethro Tull, at a club several years ago when he was touring with his solo band.

I got to meet Wolfman Jack when he was hosting a concert at a casino in Gardena, Ca. in 1995, shortly before his death.

I met Efrem Zimbalist Jr. at an auto body shop where his car was being repaired. I was there as a claims adjuster to inspect another car.

Danny Elfman bought his car in for me to inspect some minor damage in the early 80s.

My wife and I happened to meet Mary Robinson, President of the Irish Republic, when we were on vacation there in 1996. We were driving in the countryside and stopped to take photos. There was a limo and a Range Rover with some guys in suits standing by them. We asked what they were doing and they said the President was hiking. We stuck around for a few minutes and got to meet her. She was friendly and gracious.

I became good acquaintances with Toby Haliki who wrote, directed and stared in the original Gone In 60 Seconds movie. He took me on a tour of his large, private museum. He made a second movie called The Junkman in 1982 and invited me to the premier party. It was awesome. There is a documentary about Toby. He was an amazing guy.

I became good friends with Bruce (U Utah) Phillips in the last six years of his life. He was a remarkable man.

Seems like I'm forgetting some, but that's what I can think of right now.

Lots of them, actually. Dave Chappelle was cool, pre-crazy Kanye was cool, Bobby Orr was cool, and then I’ve just met a ton of other athletes in my travels from having a few friends who played pro football. In those cases, it was a different dynamic, we were all just chillin’, it wasn’t “fan-meeting-celebrity.” A couple guys I even thought were kind of dorky, lmao.

I met him literally one year before he got famous, so it must’ve been like 2003. He was DJing for Common and Talib Kweli at a show, and I ended up on stage because Common invited people up to dance on stage at the end, my date dragged me up there, then ditched me and made a beeline for Common, so I was like “alright then😂”, and I hung back a bit, and got to talking with the DJ. He actually introduced himself as “Ye”, even back then, but I got the sense that was just his usual common shortened name he went by. I just recognized him, inferred the “KAN-Ye”, and when I heard he was from Chicago like Common, I figured it had to be the same guy. He was chill, not at all like his current self. I’m all set with New Kanye, haha. College Dropout-era Kanye is top-shelf though. So I like to think that’s the Kanye I met, haha.

Religious celebrities and low profile celebrities like news anchors, yes, a cousin and a family friend who came to my house multiple times, my dad has a friend that’s a billionaire and he came to our house cause they were school friends.

It all depends on what you consider a celebrity? Years ago I chatted on a flight with Cindy Klassen. She is a Canadian Olympic gold medal speed skater. That is as close as I came to a celebrity.

Jimmy Skinner, a family friend and longtime NHL figure;Branch Rickey III, whose father helped re-integrate MLB by signing Jackie Robinson when the elder Mr. Rickey was the Brooklyn Dodgers part-owner. (I've got literal kin in this game, as my cousin, Ferguson Jenkins, is a MLB Hall-Of-Fame right-handed pitcher, the first Canadian lad honoured by the Baseball Hall Of Fame, and the winningest black pitcher with 284 victories.)
