Should black characters be in series, films and animations?

Is it correct for black characters to be important or to be protagonists? If the story doesn't revolve around white characters, but rather black characters, then is it racism against white people?

first you isolated black, but no distinction so the question is wrong.

2, sometimes but again shouldn't isolate black nor prefer over other minority.

3, yes because shouldn't exclude whites. like m&m ad problem. excluded men.

What you say doesn't make sense. 1) The artist creates whatever he wants, if the protagonists of the artist's story are black, then they are black, simple as that. There is nothing complex about it.

2) What do other minorities have to do with this? Black characters can exist in stories without the need for other minorities to exist, just as black characters do not need to exist in stories in which other minorities exist. It all depends on the author's wishes.

3) The world does not revolve around white people and creating stories where black people are protagonists and white people are not important is not the same as excluding white people or committing racism towards white people. By this logic, if a story does not have black people as protagonists or black people are not important, then black people are being excluded and suffering racism. White people don't need to exist in every story just as black people don't need to exist in every story.

For the vast majority of films and series, the skin colour and ethnicity of a person does not really matter, however when you get to specific historical events, movies or series about real people then yes it does become important. for example in the Movie ‘Men of Honour’, would a white actor (or any other non black) play the role of Carl Brashear? No as the entire context would be lost. The same applies to all other historical movies where skin colour of the individual is important to the movie, series. Minor roles it does not really matter.

Why not? The only thing I find weird is when they race swap in live action adaptations or choose a person of a different race to play a real person (like anne boleyn, or cleopatra whom netflix said was actually black when she wasn't).

But making new characters who are black or movies with a mainly black cast shouldn't be problematic at all.

An artist is free to create whatever he wants. If the story has black characters as protagonists, there is nothing wrong or racist against white people. If that were the case, all white artists who created stories with an all-white cast would be racist towards black people. It makes no sense.

Having black people or Asians or even indians is NOT racism against white people. I love it when they add black/Asian/indian people in the tv series and/or movies.
