There are a lot of great music artists that could be considered "once in a lifetime", but for me there were two that were legendary. Maybe not as popular most of the names and not as globally renowned as others, but I'm sure people from my country would agree.
1. Md. Rafi - the most iconic and illustrious artist that India has ever seen. He was from the generation of our parents, but he was one, who swayed the hearts of the upcoming generations as well.
2. KK - The most celebrated artist of my time. Mosty known for his work during the 2000s, but outmatched by none. His unfortunate death was mourned by the entire country. He passed away when visiting my city to perform for a university. His death was honoured by gunshot parade by the government. He was one of a kind.
Prince for well, everything! He could do it all! Without a doubt. Lennon & McCartney for song writing. Freddy Mercury & Robert Plant for stage presence. TSwift for being a goddamn ATM machine for every city she plays in. NWA, Run the Jewels, Immortal Technique and Rage Against the Machine for social consciousness in their music. Sinatra, Aretha, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson for sheer longevity and appeal to such diverse audiences. Truly unique innovation goes to Metallica, Black Eyed Peas, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Public Enemy, Beatles, Madonna and Eminem.
And country music for NOTHING. It sucks ass. How many times can you write about your truck, your town, your girl, your dog or your beer? Least creative genre out there. I said what I said.
@molonski2 Johnny Cash IS country I'll grant that but his body of work is SO GOOD and ECCLECTIC that he gets a pass. ❤️ The man in black!
Amy Winehouse
Kurt Cobain
Bob Marley
Chester Bennington
Jim Morrison
Chris Cornell
Layne Stanley
ABBA
Freddie Mercury
jeff Buckley
The beetles
Modern musicians just don't make music as good as the musicians in the past did anymore.
@molonski2 agreed! she was absolutely talented and creative!.
That's a solid list!
@DrPepper12 I’m glad you agree 😊
@molonski2 hahaaa Benny was killing it in his ABBA team for sure! They used to play me ABBA DVDs to watch their music videos as a kid 👧 I was absolutely mind blown I’ve been a fan since then 😂💯🔥. It was so fun dancing to their tunes with my friends, singing along with them 🎊🎉🔥😂
@molonski2 the only time one should be crushing on a 17 year old is if you’re a teenager as well otherwise you’re out of order 🤕💯
@molonski2 ohhhh alright.

Based on popularity, talent, and influence:
Elvis Pressly
Jimi Hendrix
Taylor Swift (hate me all you want, but you can't deny her massive appeal, and she is a singer/songwriter/muscian who doesn't need 30 songwriters to make a hit album)
Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra, King Crimson to name a few.
@Nikki1989 i actually saw Zappa on Friday, November 14th in South Bend, IN, and was astonished by just how incredible a guitarist he really was. Unfortunately, he died an embittered middle aged guy who seemed very angry at the success of the metal movement. I don't know why, because he was much more talented than most of them.
@Billlewis I would have loved to have seen Zappa live. I also love watching Zappa interviews, very intelligent man.
@Billlewis But he was middle-aged, ugly and though extremely talented, not exactly charismatic enough to pull in younger folk.
I forgot Zappa! Nice save!!
Zappa interviews should be required viewing in these crazy times!!
Bob Dylan , the influence on a generation
Including the Beatles
Rolling Stones..
Bobs great influence = Woody Guthrie
Yeah, unfortunately Dylan sucks in concert. He just doesn’t give a shit about anything or anyone.
@RedInnocent69
I've been to every Australian concert of my time..
Over the years , its become worse..
My favorite ( to view , I wasn't there ) was the Hard Rain concert with Joan Biaz and The Band , the white face - That rocked. ( Shelter from the storm..77 or 78 ? )
The last I went to in Aus , my then girlfriend asked " When does he start singing " , it was half way though.
Yeah, seen him 8 times starting in 96 or 97. it’s been 6 or 7 years now. Still a fan and will see him if he comes through, but won’t go out of my way anymore.
All of those in the top picture as well as Spike Jones, Glenn Miller, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Cheap Trick, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Arthur Brown, etc..
@molonski2 I saw them very shortly before Bon died. at that point, I didn't like them, much. I got into them not long after and prefer Bon to Brian.
I ended up with balcony seats (I forget who the band was that I went to see). While AC/D was on, a huge chunk of the plaster from the domed ceiling broke off and hit me on the right shoulder! A little while later, Angus was doing a solo and then vanished from the stage and, the next thing I knew, he was being carried on the shoulders of two roadies across the balacony right behind me while he continued to solo!
Yes , I recall , we had this brief conversation about it previously.
Its really been the Young family , everyone thinks they are stupid , far from it , just great marketers , and Angus just loves what he's doing , RIP Malcolm ( who with his wlder brother ) really shaped the band.
@molonski2 Young & Vanda. Even back ion The Easybeats.
Yep 100% ,
They played the role there ( Suit and tie the whole bit ) the writing , just brilliant.
But you know with ACDC , Angus basically never drank , nor used any drugs ( Malcolm did ) Angus only addiction was cigarettes , bad enough. Same Swedish wife for years ( at first kept secret ) she is VERY wealthy in her own right.
The whole thing is like any piece of Theater , and they have played it for all these years.
Its incredible really.
@molonski2 Same here, I never drank, drugged or smoked but my brother did all three. He's dead and I'm not. His band sucked and mine didn't.
@FunkyMonkee
Certainly assists longevity if you can avoid Funky , for sure man.
@molonski2 I've avoided all of it.
@FunkyMonkee
Well done , especially considering your involvement , great work.
Whitney Houston
Michael Jackson
Beyoncé
Minnie Riperton
Whitney Houston has one of the greatest voices of all time.
Michael Jackson is one of the greatest performers of all time.
Beyoncé is the greatest performer of our current time. She is the female Michael Jackson. She pushes boundaries and has proven time after time she is in her own category. The woman literally can sing any genre, from Opera, Country, Rap, R&B, House Music, Pop, and so much more. She gives you the performance of a lifetime. She is one of the very few artist who actually sings live. Who also dances the ENTIRE show with heels on, without running out of breath! I’m talking REAL CHOREOGRAPHY, not no half a** sh*t. I stand to argue. Anyone who disagrees, show me an artist of this generation who can do the same.
Minnie Riperton does not get enough credit. She was hitting those high notes WAY before Mariah Carey was even thought of. Yet, she never became a mainstream artist. I actually like her MUCH better than Mariah Carey.
Anywho, these are just my opinions. 🙃
I'm just curious. Where do you stand on Kesha, Pink and Gaga?
@DrPepper12 Ehhh Kesha was cool and had some hits when she first came out. However, her wave did not last long. There is nothing unique about her as an artist in my opinion. I do like Pink and Gaga, and would listen to their music over Kesha.
Kesha got fucked by manager and label and stopped recording because of it so they won't own it. It's a very sad story because she's great and could have been MUCH more popular.
Ronnie James Dio, Richie Blackmore... say weren't they in the same band at one time? Must've been one helluva band!*
*Rainbow
Another excellent observation!!
you really paired mf MF Doom next to the BBL Drizzy? lmfao...
Pink Floyd
Freddy Mercury
Alice Cooper
Till Lindemann
Bob Marley
Michael jackson
Maybelle Carter
Michael Jackson. Whitney Houston. Elvis.
Absolutely no one is that good.
Shakira
Amy wine house
Her movie comes out in June!
Prince, hands down.
First and foremost. Towering figure.
jamiroquai from uk
Jeff Beck, Jean Luc Ponty
Led Zeppelin.
JPJ does not get the recognition he so OBVIOUSLY deserves. That man was a maestro on bass n keyboards.
@DrPepper12 they're far from my favorite band but out of every rock band they're THE rock band (I don't like the Beatles and don't think the stones are better).
Dazed and Confused is the most complete rock song in the entire genre in my opinion, mixes all the instruments amazingly
Kashmir for me. If you ever get the chance go to YouTube and search up each of them and isolation. You won't regret it!
