At age 10, you don't exactly have a lot of sophistication regarding movies.

When I was 10, it was 1973. There were no movies on demand or streaming or even home video. Cable was extremely rare and there was no satellite TV. So, you only saw movies either in movie theaters or whatever happened to be playing on broadcast TV that day. So, given the time, you don't get exposed to a lot of movies.

I will simply say, at 10, drama, to me, was boring. Musicals were practically as bad, but I did like West Side Story.

I'd watch comedies and epics when they were on, but, something else you need to know is that most families had 1 TV in the living room so, whatever was on, everybody agreed to it or the parent laid down the law.

If I was by myself like on a Saturday night (not a school night) the movies I watched - if I wasn't busy watching something better than a movie - would be old science fiction or horror movies like Godzilla movies or old B-flicks from the 1950s. The independent TV stations usually had these. For instance, on Channel 11 WPIX in New York used to have "Chiller Theater" on Saturday nights at 8 PM. (Notice the 6-fingered hand.)

Channel 9 WOR (now WWOR) was based out of Secausus NJ but served the New York market. IIRC, they often would have Godzilla movies too and might do a whole "monster week", so the Monday movie would be "Godzilla" (1956 American version), then "Son of Godzilla" on Tuesday, "Godzilla vs. Mothra", "King Kong vs. Godzilla", and then, on Friday, the "All-Star" Godzilla movie "Destroy All Monsters!".

The networks often had a "movie of the week" but may have them on one or more days of the week. ABC usually did that and they had some made-for-TV movies, some of which were good and have since become cult classics. Two come to mind, both from ABC in 1973: The first is "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark". The second is a comedic killer movie "The Girl Most Likely To" which is free on YouTube.

Channel 5 WNEW (now WNYW) had the old horror movies like "Dracula" or "Frankenstein" or "Creature from the Black Lagoon".

Occasionally, a major blockbuster might be on like "Planet of the Apes" or "2001: A Space Odyssey", but those were rare... especially "2001".

Anyway, I watched these sorts of movies mostly. I did not go to movies on my own really.

I really have no interest in kaiju movies now because they are like comic book movies. Essentially the same shit over and over.

This is why I actually appreciated the 1998 "Godzilla" and was annoyed at paying so much for the 2014 movie. In 1998, no bullshit fights or "atomic breath", but a plausible origin story with a nontraditional Godzilla that was actually more plausible. While I like to 1956 American version, recently I've gotten to see the original 1954 in Japanese and it is an excellent science fiction film. I was astonished actually.

I'd like to see Godzilla Minus One. Spielberg saw it multiple times he was so engrossed by it. It seems to be more like the 1954 movie in terms of maturity and story

Return of the Jedi would’ve been a favorite. Probably something with Charles Bronson or Jean Claude Van Damme.
