Did You Hear About 'Heart's' Ann Wilson?

. One of rock's most famed and enduring performers has apparently been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer. I grew up listening to 'Heart' on the radio in the mid to late 1970's; their first album, 'Dreamboat Annie', was released in the Spring of 1976 and featured tracks like 'Magic Man' and 'Crazy On You'. Like a lot of teenage boys of the era, I had a huge crush on her. Hopefully she can stick around for a few more years.

I saw Heart in 1976 when Dreamboat Annie was released.
It was a daytime concert at the UC Santa Barbara football stadium.

Heart opened and was amazing. The audience went wild. The encore, which is rare for an opening act, was Rock and Roll by Led Zeppelin.

The next band was Lynyrd Skynyrd right after they had released the song Free Bird.
They kicked total ass and the audience went wild.

The final band, the headliner, was the new Jefferson Starship. Almost all of the original Jefferson Airplane people were with them. Damn!

Needless to say, it was a great concert.

Sounds like a hell of a show. I was just twelve years old whe 'Dreamboat' was released in early '76, but they were playing them on the radio all day long, and then I got a chance to see them in July, '85 in Ft. Lauderdale. Even aside from the music, Ann is just so damn beautiful.

That's a shame. Speaking as a small kid in the 1970s and a teen in the 1980s, I too remember Heart well. But don't forget her sister Nancy, who actually plays a mean guitar, which is rarer among women.

Yes, Sir. I like And of course respect Nancy, but she made her contributions to the group primarily as a songwriter and backing vocalist. Don't get me wrong; she was a formidable talent, but live, Howard Leese and Roger Fischer did most of the heavy lifting in terms of guitar work.

I'm a huge fan of Heart! In fact, I'm spending the 4th at my parents and planned on hearing a lot of Heart during the outdoor festivities. This is the first I've heard of her having cancer and it's definitely sad. I hope it was caught early enough and isn't an aggressive type of cancer. Their's is one of the only groups my parents like that I really like.

Oh, she can def stick around for a number of years if she bothers to use any of the nearly 400 known natural cures for cancer. Have her talk to me! I'll tell her how to make one. It shouldn't cost her more than $10.00 and an hour or 3.

@Nikki1989 Yes, I'm a huge fan. I pretty much grew up listening to Heart, both my parents are big fans. Their music actually inspired me to learn guitar. The intro to Crazy on You, was one of the best intros for it's time.

Yes, but think about this -- born in 1950 (Stevie Wonder was also born that year), she's 74 years old, and she's been a star for nearly half a century. There are people who don't even make it to 50.
Is it a bummer? Sure, but it happens to everyone sooner or later. That's one reason why I have no interest in religion, because I don't want it in the sky I want it right now. Or, in the twenty something generation's vernacular, YOLO.
