  Well, it depends on the kind of painting. Acrylic painting, oil painting, and Watercolour painting are very different. So, the start for all are very different.
  For a beginner, I would say research the kind of paint you are planning to work with. Understand the basics and how to apply them in your own journey. For instance, how to clean the paint brush according to the paint type, different painting techniques according to the paint type etc. ^-^
