Why do people keep comparing other famous people with Michael Jackson?

I grew up never really caring about famous people, I kind of thought mj would always be around and regret really not meeting him before he died. I have a list of maybe 6 people on this earth I would regret not meeting once before they died. I keep seeing people compare Taylor Swift or other rap artist to mj when they are just not near his level, in my opinion.

I have friends all over the world, and all of them know who mj js from ages 20-55 very few of them known who Taylor swift is or even most rap artist from America. I don't think anyone can say someone super famous if everyone In every single country domestic known who you even are. I saw a video of a famous rap artist who dropped in the middle of another country. No one knew who he was, even with him walking up to people and asking them. Everyone knows who trump or Joe biden is that famous. The pope js famous but not everyone knowns who he is. Mj is just not human I still don't understand how one person can be as famous as he is

Personally I feels there are very few Artists nowadays. To me, a Taylor Swift is not an Artist but a Performer. She's of course somewhat involved in writing the songs she performs, but she has multiple people behind her to assist her with that (Do most of the work I dare to say).

People like Michael Jackson were Artists; they created their music, their lyrics... all of it.

I'd say for me there is also the generational difference; I am of an older generation. Todays music is just not my kind of music. I generally listen to music which has been made between the 1950s and 1980s (Though I occasionally also listen to Classical Music; Beethoven, Wagner, Mozart, Tchaikovsky). There are of course exceptions; while I am not overly into Hip Hop, I do like Ren's music.

It makes me laugh when a Taylor Swift and Kayne West (or whatever his name is now) claim they are bigger than Michael Jackson or The Beatles.

There are of course always some individual songs from recent times which I like, but it doesn't happen a lot.

If I was to name a performer, from recent decades, I would probably say Lady Gaga for example; it's not really because of her music. But in my opinion she is an Artist and a great performer. She once covered as song made by Stevie Wonder while he was in the audience too; that is a very good performance of her. Other than that I wouldn't really know anyone else.

I am 45 now, so I am getting a bit older... but I am who I am due to my music preference and fashion style; that's what Skinhead is. Not all the violence, at times Racism, and all that other useless nonsense which has plagued the subculture since the 1970s. The music I listen to is Ska and Reggae, and many Artists are from the 1950s and 1960s.

There has... and of course not entirely for unreasonable reasons... always been very negative press on the subculture. As with every subculture, there are always violent or misguided elements. Due to the violence, hatred and racism which came with it; that image largely stuck... but even many within the subculture itself are not very well informed what it really means to be Skinhead. Not really a problem, as long as it doesn't cause any harm.

There is of course a difference between the various 'scenes' in countries around the world. The US scene, for example, is not the same as it is here in the UK; there are similarities of course, but also differences. Age can vary too; over the broad line, I dare to say the average age in the UK is a bit higher than the US. I think I am young with 45 years old; while I was born during a time that Skinhead was still quite dominant, I was of course way too young to have even been aware of it.

My music taste is very diverse... and has changed over the years; I went from, lets say, 'loud music' styles to the more 'relax music' styles. I am also a 'Stoner', so the rhythm of Ska, Reggae and Soul is perfect.

Haha, about Middle-age; I do hope I've entered that stage a few years ago. I don't aspire to become 90 years old. At least not under the current circumstances; and it would of course heavily depend on health.

I've worked in Care Homes specialised in Dementia... though I was the (head) Chef and not a carer... No, I don't want to end up suffering from that; I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
