I was in the comic book age when I first saw the Ninja Turtles. They didn't have different colored masks... they were all red. And oh dayum were they radical and badical at the same time. Stright slaying mother fuckers. They were killers for reals, the kind of killers you like. Then they started making it for kids and they got the colors and all that shit. Shit changed after the comic book only days.

  The comic book shop was basically the coolest place to hang out when I was a kid... arcade machines, pogs and slammers in the backyard, and comics. I was into the Aliens and Predators from Dark Horse comics at the time... after playing some Mortal Kombat 2... and I remember flipping the ninja turtles open and they were stabbing people in the head and all that... blood and guts just like Aliens and the Predators comics...
  
  See I don't remember what years that was exactly, but I remember all the things that was going down around the same time. Everything on the television set was kid-friendly at a time and movies, and comics was the only way out from childish shit... So Turtles on the TV was a big no, but Turtles in those comics where they all wore red (Not blue, purple, orange, and red) looked pretty cool.

  NGL, all that sounds fun. When i was 14 and 15 i started going to comics stores on Wednesday. My friend told me that's when they dropped most new ones. So we went. It was fun, finding my favorite.
  I ended up stopping because basketball, consumed my life. I needed to get a scholarship in it. So my parents wasn't burdened with debt.

  We all have our struggles. At 13 I was forced to live with my Mom, whom I had never even met after 2 years old (taken away for neglect)... I never saw a comic book store again after that. Went from middle class to living in a trailer with 2 sisters and my Mom collecting welfare of all of our Dads... abusive af household where Mom just made us do all the cleaning and cooking while she did drugs and got drunk, and of course beat the shit out of us... and just left before I was 16... somehow survived until I was old enough to join the military.
