Difficult, yes, but not impossible for me. I’m pretty aware and accepting of my limitations. So i don’t mind putting a controller down and admitting a game is too difficult.
I suck at stealth most of the time. I can do it, but i can’t get all the way through a game like that. On the other hand, i don’t have the skills to go guns blazing in modern shooters either. If i have to run one direction while shooting in another while avoiding multiple enemies and obstacles, i am toast.
I was actually pretty good at BioShock. At least i thought. Ell oh ell! I had already beaten the game once with one overarching storyline. I was playing through a second time with the other overarching storyline. My nephew was visiting and i let him try it. First i started a new game and let him get used to the controls. I coached him a bit on my somewhat cautious approach to the game. The buildup can be a bit boring for young’ns. So i loaded my game with some serious firepower and let him at it. He was running and gunning like a pro in minutes! I’d seriously only seen moves like that while watching gaming content creators on youtube! I like games that give you the options to play to your own skill set. BioShock and Dying Light are both supreme games in that respect. To this day, two of my all time favorites.
I enjoy chess, which can be insanely hard. I had my worst loss since childhood last night. Guy is a GM on a ratings climb, so his account said he was around my rating, but he was really like 550 ELO higher. I had not been picked apart so completely since I was like 10. When I resigned he was up 16 points of material - two rooks and both bishops. He had a mate in three that I saw.
I do.. to an extent. I like a challenge, but what I don’t like is an impossible one due to my own limitations of skill in a particular game.
For example I don’t mind dying in a video game a few times until I eventually beat it because of the difficulty of the game.
What I don’t like is spending countless hours on a video game trying to beat a level or a boss that is too challenging for me to reasonably beat within a decent time, without taking too much time away from other things in life.
Hmmm depends, if it’s good I’ll be addicted, I don't know if I want that though 🤔
Oh, absolutely! 🎮 There's something incredibly satisfying about the challenge that hard games bring. It's like those intense moments in a gripping drama where every decision counts. I remember playing "Dark Souls" and the feeling of accomplishment I got when I finally defeated a tough boss—it’s almost like finishing an intricate piece of art. The struggle makes the victory so much sweeter! It’s the same thrill I get from watching a complex, beautifully crafted indie film. So yeah, bring on the hard games! 😄

Tried Ninja Gaiden Sigma and gave up years ago. Demon Souls is another one and gave up on the first boss. Bloodborne is another game I played and found it difficult to play. Guess I am not into soul type games and learning how the mechanics work and the difficulty being 10 and above.
Souls-borne games, for me, are worth the frustration because the fights that really matter are often a sight to behold. Plus, the feeling of finally beating it feels great.
Not all of them are that great at the balancing though, some punish you a little to heavily for losing to be worth playing.
Not ridiculously hard to the point it's almost impossible for your skills to beat. But hard enough where you get satisfaction from beating it.
Legend of Zelda: Windwaker was perfect. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was perfect.
I enjoy some hard games. I didn't particularly enjoy Bloodborne and Sekiro though. Or Ghost of Tsushimo, now that I think about it. The combat style just doesn't work for me.
I like games that don't frustrate me. Some are hard some are easy, but if I get frustrated, I stop playing.
I played Sekiro again yesterday. I like bossfights. I don't know about hard, because I'm sure there are racing games or something that are also hard and I won't enjoy them.
I do actually big fan of nioh 1-2, dark souls series, sekiro, elden ring, etc.
I only enjoy hard games, easy games are boring.
Yes. But I didn't think Bloodborn was as hard as people make it out to be. Just takes dedication and time.
XCOM is the hardest game I've ever played
Bloodborne isn't hard, it's middle teir in difficulty.
Xcom is turn based though, so its low teir. Turn based can't be hard to do because all you need to do is strategy, and strategy is easy.
@TheSpaceGnome Xcom isn't about trial and error, it's about risk management, playing the odds, basically gambling. You can do everything right in xcom and still lose.
Thats not hard, thats dealing with RNG and hoping for the best.
For the record, a task that requires practice, dedication, and time in order to get better at it or succeed at completing it, is the literal definition of actual difficulty.
@TheSpaceGnome Ok, I'll correct myself...
xcom is unbalanced unless you luck out with RNG. Most frustrating (not hard) game I have played.
It does indeed sound quite frustrating.
I do enjoy them but some of them are so difficult and frustrating that they become not enjoyable. Elden ring is a good example of this problem.
The last game I played that I liked is Aeterna Noctis and it is very hard.
Sure, I play chess, which can be very hard.
WHY ISN'T THIS STILL OUT FOR PC? WHY? 😭
they last longer too...
Yes, I like sports that are really hard.
No but I prefer other hard things...
Like?
Lol.
depends on the game
Yes. Backgammon and chess are tough!!
Yea. its rage inducing but i enjoy it
Batman Arkham knight is really cool game
I prefer easy. My life is hard enough.
Though, all the issues with Gotham Knights offers me more than enough challenges.
No they'd annoy me
Bad enough of that in life as it is hahaha
I do.
