Why are most straight women in their 30s not playing socially competative or co-operatively challenging video games on consoles or PC?

Exceptions exist of course, but its mostly men for that age group/platforms/game types, and when you do see women, they are usually lesbians, or in a much younger age group.

So far no one has actually answered the question.

Some have posted absurd slander or nonsense claims (which will be deleted because I have better things to do than argue over that).
Some just say they aren't interested, which, ok, but that doesn't answer why most women aren't interested, yet most men are.
Some mention free time constraints (that men also have, so that can't be it).

None of these answers explain why many men at that age make the time for challenging gaming, but few women do.

A lot of them just don't find videogames interesting. Videogames are a hobby, man. People have lots of different hobbies.

I'm not much of a videogamer, and I'm a straight guy in my 30s.

In the same way that you come home and want to unwind by playing a game, other people get the same charge by doing something totally different. Some women even see playing videogames as a sign that her lifestyle wouldn't align with the guy's.

I'm really not sure why people find it so hard to grasp the question.
When you go into a challenging or competative game, its usually a 90% to 99% male playerbase, and the few females that are there, tend to be kids or teens. Whereas at least half of the males are adults in their late 20s to late 30s.
I'm asking why that is, why are adult women as a population generally much less interested in challenging video games than adult men?

I'm aware not everyone likes playing them, but for those who do, its overwhelmingly male dominated.

Your wording could have been clearer. That said, people are grasping your question just fine. The reason women don't tend to play those games is because they don't enjoy the games, nor the culture of the online spaces.

It doesn't matter if the games are largely played by men because the women don't enjoy the online atmosphere that competitive games cultivate. She doesn't like the kind of man she typically encounters when playing the games, so why would she want to meet more of them.

The answer to my question is about WHY that is.
What is it specifically that makes women more likely to have less (or no) enjoyment from those games and that online space culture.

When you see guys playing a game, they aren't concerned with online culture, just the game itself, and they are more likely to like those games, but there is no clear reason explained as to why any of that is.

It's because women like to get along with people, and competitive environments create an adversarial, combative interaction between people. It's intense, disagreeable, names are being called, slurs are being said.

They either don’t have the time or are not interested. If their man is sitting on his ass all day playing video games someone has to be watching the kids

This question is more about why they don't have the time (while single and childless) or are not interested.

Surely not every woman in her 30s is either taken or a single mom.

Also if they have kids, and she's the one watching them, the guy isn't at home gaming all day, he's at work all day and paying for everything, meaning she would have more time for gaming than him.
(Not that it matters).

I'm guessing it's because they are busy with life. I love to game but it's harder to find the time as I get older

Except for a couple of vintage arcade games as a kid, today’s video games just don’t appeal to me. I’m not against them, they just don’t draw me in. Just guessing, but the reason they may appeal more to men is because they tend to be more visual. That and since many are action-oriented (like first person shooter games, fast cars, and the like), I think it’s mainly a guy thing.
