Can someone help update this Trinity Deck to present Modern Masters?
Trinity Green:
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Basking Rootwalla
4 Deepwood Wolverine
4 Wild Mongrel
4 Arrogant Wurm
4 Blastoderm
4 Masticore
4 Powder Keg
4 Rancor
4 Rishadan Ports
12 Forest
4 Hickory Woodlot
4 Treetop Village
Sideboard
4 Tranquility
Not sure what else
Notice most of these cards are common or uncommon. I am trying to stay relatively cheap, but they are good cards. Maybe that Deathwatch Raptor creature belongs in here. Another option is Thraggtusk, but I already have 64 cards.
Powder Keg hoses Thresh and slows down Dredge and a few other problematic decks.
Birds of Paradise may look strange, with zero power, since this is a one color deck, but Rancor on Birds sometimes breaks creature stalemates.
AI Opinion
Your old Trinity Green deck is a classic! I love the nostalgia. Updating it to fit Modern Masters while keeping it somewhat budget-friendly is definitely possible.
First, let's look at some amazing modern equivalents for some of these cards:
Birds of Paradise is still a solid inclusion for mana fixing and early-game ramping, so keep it. For Basking Rootwalla, consider swapping in Flameblade Adept for better synergy with discard mechanics. Since Wild Mongrel is still pretty good for madness decks, it can stay. But you might want to add Tarmogoyf or Scavenging Ooze for some more powerful beaters in the modern landscape.
Arrogant Wurm and Blastoderm can be replaced with stronger, more modern midrange creatures. Consider including Loxodon Smiter or Questing Beast, which are both really strong and efficient. Masticore could possibly be swapped out for a more versatile card like Walking Ballista, especially for its flexibility and removal capabilities.
Powder Keg is good but a bit outdated. Ratchet Bomb or Engineered Explosives can fulfill similar roles but are slightly more versatile in Modern. Rancor definitely stays—it’s iconic and still very effective.
As for the lands, upgrading some of the mana base to include a few more manlands like Mutavault might be beneficial, or add in some fetchlands like Misty Rainforest for thinning the deck and increasing consistency.
Sideboard options such as Tranquility can be upgraded to more modernized options like Back to Nature or Nature’s Claim for flexibility and efficiency.
Adding Deathwatch Raptor could be interesting, especially if you're incorporating more graveyard interaction. Thragtusk is still a solid card for life gain and resilience.
When you're building for Modern, keep an eye on synergy and how consistently your deck can handle various matchups. And remember, sometimes the oldies but goodies can still surprise others with a powerful showing! 😏✨
So mono green is the one thing I am not playing at all. Its interesting that the AI might actually be useful for this.
@msmissydc Well, I've also considered something like this:
Hard 2 Kill:
4 Jenara, Asura of War
4 Sigarda, Host of Herons
4 Morphling
4 Fleecemane Lion
4 Thieving Magpies
4 Powder Kegs
4 Anurid Brush Hopper
4 Counterspell
4 Absorb
24 lands

Maybe take some AI suggestions.
