Do you think Horror films need to be justified and spread a good message?

I went to see a recent Horror film, and of course there's some out there saying negative things about it because it so called spreads a bad message.
I don't think it did at all by the way but the question is even if it did? Is that a criteria Horror needs to meet?

Horror films are meant to scare, cause fear and horrify. A message is secondary and not necessary
