What are some of your favorite TV theme songs?

I know some of your picks might be before my time but there are a few oldies I really like (my mom and dad would watch reruns when I was young). They include, WKRP in Cincinnati, Taxi, but my all time favorite is, Hill Street Blues.

I like the opening theme of Firefly; it's pretty much the only one that NOBODY fast-forwards through. And Reaper, a TV show killed by the last writer's strike, had one that was only four seconds long, so it REALLY didn't overstay its welcome. And the Fresh Prince's is just classic.

But my favorite is the fifth season of Babylon 5. The show had amazing music (I actually have a few of the soundtrack CDs), which almost no one ever talks about, because every aspect of the show was amazing (except the CGI, but cut 'em some slack, it was 1993- and even THEN, it's just aged badly; at the time it was phenomenal). Anyway, each season's opening was different- the first season's was moody and dangerous, the second's bright and determined, if darker, the third's intense and terrified, the fourth's climactic and steadfast. Each intro also had a spoken part, describing what was going on in the setting at the time (each season was a year long, in-universe). The show was always intended to run for only five seasons (it was a condition of making it; there'd be no dragging THIS show on forever!), but the network airing it went out of business, and it was picked up by TNT at the last minute, so (among many, MANY other things), the planned intro had to be redone. The narration actually looked the other way: it was a very loose "how we got here" montage of previous impactful quotes and visual images. And the music...
