The first airdrop of beavers was 1948, to repopulate some areas with beavers. Yes... they parachuted 76 Beavers... all survived but one.

and ladies, don't be getting any funny ideas about getting the castor sack of the beaver to make perfumes and dare we say... food flavorings. That's no longer permitted.

It depends on where you put them. If you put them in a region where they naturally occur it's great. They create an entire ecosystem that supports a variety of life.

But on the other hand, beavers are one of the worst invasive species on the planet. They have been introduced in other parts of the world and gotten totally out of hand. In Tierra del Fuego they were introduced for the fur trade. Now they are completely out of control and destroying the local ecosystem. Argentina and Chile have passed laws calling for the complete eradication of beavers.

There are beavers near me. It's hard to see one because they dive under water when anyone is nearby. They have bad eyesight but good hearing. Before they dive under they slap the water with their tails to warn other beavers. If you are approaching the damn and hear the slap, you know you won't see any beavers.
