Were any of you a fan of Bob Uecker?

I just heard he passed away and actually feel sad. I live in Iowa but have relatives in Milwaukee, so Brewer games were always a tradition when we would visit them every summer. We would also watch them on TV while listening to Uecker on the radio. I was always a fan of his and so were my dad and my uncle and cousins that live in WI. RIP Mr. Baseball.

Yes. I just did a big post on Facebook about Uecker. I am old, so Uecker's been prominent in my life since the early 1980s doing Miller Light commercials. He was everywhere eventually.

So sad that the Brew Crew never won a World Series in the 54 seasons that he called Brewers games. They are the oldest MLB team of the 5 that have never won the World Series and the only time they went was in 1982 losing to the Saint Louis Cardinals which is a bit ironic; Uecker played in the MLB for only 6 seasons but that included playing for in 1964 Saint Louis Cardinals when they won the World Series over the Yankees.

Flags should be at half-staff in Wisconsin for Uecker...

Are you old enough to remember "Mr. Belvedere", the ABC sitcom starring Bob Uecker? I was on from 1985 to 1990, but you may have seen it online or in re-runs. I'd watch that show back then.

Yes, I have watched clips of it on YouTube lol I've also had clips of him on the Johnny Carson show pop up on Reels. He was hilarious. He showed Johnny pictures of him and his teammates spraying each other with champagne and chugging it and Johnny asked him what "big game" they had just won that caused that celebration and Bob answered, "That was a couple hours before we played our third game of the season". 😂😂😂

I often would listen to Uecker call Brewers games - especially home games - because I have Sirius XM. I am not exactly a Brewers fan, but I do root for them a bit and have a Milwaukee Brewers hat.
I am a NYer, so I am a Mets fan and I was in my car listening to Uecker call NL WIld Card Game 3, the final game in a Best-of-3. Milwaukee was favored being the #3 seed with the Mets just getting in as the #6 seed, so that Game 3 was at home in Milwaukee and thus Sirius XM's radio feed was the Milwaukee feed of the game (the SXM Mets feed was on the web).

It looked like the Brew Crew was going to advance being up 2-0 in the top of the 9th, but the Mets Pete Alonzo hit a 3-run HR and then the Mets got a 4th run that inning. That took the air out of the Brewers and their fans with the Brewers getting nothing in the bottom of the 9th.

As a Mets fan, I was happy. But I also felt bad for Brewers fans AND Uecker. I knew that he was 90 and that his daughter died from ALS just 2 years earlier, so him being in the booth and around the game was therapy for him. But, he was no spring chicken having called Brewers games for over 50 years. I wanted him to see them win it all just once before he retired or passed away. Sadly, that didn't happen and it will be an odd MLB season in MKE without Bob Uecker calling Brewers games.

I just posted how I moved to WI a couple years ago and when I went to my first Brewers game, I spent most of my time watching Uecker in the booth through binoculars. To me he was a pretty big celebrity.

My dad was a Bob Uecker fan, so I also became one. I moved to WI two years ago, I grew up in Florida. When I went to my first Brewers game, I spent half my time watching Uecker in the booth lol I had binoculars. He was very much a celebrity to me.

I will miss Bob I think every day of my life that I get a close parking spot to a building. I say out loud"I must be in the front row", or if someone misses by a mile " just a bit outside".
